Isaiah 60:21
Thy people
also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the
branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.

NLT: All your people will be righteous. They will possess their land forever, for
I will plant them there with my own hands in order to bring myself glory.

NIV: Then all your people will be righteous and they will possess the land

a. Thy people [Strong: 5971 * `am am from 6004; a
people (as a congregated unit); specifically, a tribe (as those of Israel);
hence (collectively) troops or attendants; figuratively, a flock:--folk, men,
nation, people.]
b. [also shall be] all [Strong: 3605 * ole or (Jer.
33:8) kowl {kole}; from 3634; properly, the whole; hence, all, any or every (in
the singular only, but often in a plural sense):--(in) all (manner, (ye)),
altogether, any (manner), enough, every (one, place, thing), howsoever, as many
as, (no-)thing, ought, whatsoever, (the) whole, whoso(-ever).]
c. righteous [Strong: 6662 * tsaddiyq tsad-deek'
from 6663; just:--just, lawful, righteous (man).]
1). Chronologically this is after the second coming
of Christ. After the mouning period and after Israel is put in their rightful place
as the top nation on earth. Israel will be brought into the land in unbelief,
face extermination and rescued by their Messiah, whom they will afterward believe
on and submit to. It is then they will be born again as a nation and enter into
the fulfillment of all the promises found in the Scripture concerning them as a
nation, including being declared righteous.
a). Ezekiel
36:24-28 For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all
countries, and will bring you into your own land.
36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and
ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I
cleanse you.
36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new
spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your
flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause
you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
36:28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to
your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.
2). Israel’s righteousness will come from believing
on their Messiah, the same as we did and received His righteousness.
a). Jeremiah 23:5, 6 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I
will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper,
and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
23:6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel
shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE
LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
b). Romans 3:19-26 Now we know that what things soever
the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be
stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall
no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the
law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith
of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no
difference:
3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the
glory of God;
3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the
redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation
through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of
sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
3:26 To declare, I say, at this time his
righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth
in Jesus.
2. “…they
shall inherit the land for ever…
a. they shall inherit [Strong: 3423 * yarash
yaw-rash' or yaresh {yaw-raysh'}; a primitive root; to occupy (by driving out
previous tenants, and possessing in their place); by implication, to seize, to
rob, to inherit; also to expel, to impoverish, to ruin:--cast out, consume,
destroy, disinherit, dispossess, drive(-ing) out, enjoy, expel, X without fail,
(give to, leave for) inherit(-ance, -or) + magistrate, be (make) poor, come to
poverty, (give to, make to) possess, get (have) in (take) possession, seize
upon, succeed, X utterly.]
b. the land [Strong: 776 * 'erets eh'-rets from an
unused root probably meaning to be firm; the earth (at large, or partitively a
land):--X common, country, earth, field, ground, land, X natins, way, +
wilderness, world.]
c. forever [Strong: 5769 * `owlam o-lawm' or lolam
{o-lawm'}; from 5956; properly, concealed, i.e. the vanishing point; generally,
time out of mind (past or future), i.e. (practically) eternity;
frequentatively, adverbial (especially with prepositional prefix)
always:--alway(-s), ancient (time), any more, continuance, eternal, (for,
(n-))ever(-lasting, -more, of old), lasting, long (time), (of) old (time),
perpetual, at any time, (beginning of the) world (+ without end).]
1). It is only during this period, after the second
coming of Christ and Israel’s spiritual rebirth that the fulfillment of God’s promise
of the inheritance of the land will be complete.
a). Genesis 15:7-21 And he said unto him, I am the Lord
that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit
it.
15:8 And he said, Lord God, whereby shall I know
that I shall inherit it?
15:9 And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of
three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years
old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.
15:10 And he took unto him all these, and divided
them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds
divided he not.
15:11 And when the fowls came down upon the
carcases, Abram drove them away.
15:12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep
fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.
15:13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that
thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve

3. “…the branch of my planting, the work of my hands…”

in the sense of greenness as a striking color; a shoot; figuratively, a
descendant:--branch.]
b. of my planting [Strong: 4302 matta`
mat-taw' from 5193; something planted, i.e. the place (a garden or vineyard),
or the thing (a plant, figuratively or men); by implication, the act,

from 6213; an action (good or bad); generally, a transaction; abstractly,
activity; by implication, a product (specifically, a poem) or (generally)

1). Israel is planted in the land and they are trees
of righteousness.
a). Isaiah 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to
give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of
praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of
righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
4. “…that I may be glorified.”
a. that I may be glorified [Strong: 6286
pa'ar paw-ar' a primitive root; to gleam, i.e. (causatively) embellish;
figuratively, to boast; also to explain (i.e. make clear) oneself; denominative
from 6288, to shake a tree:--beautify, boast self, go over the boughs, glorify
(self), glory, vaunt self.]
1). The purpose in all this is that God will be
glorified.
a). Ezekiel 36:22 Therefore say unto the house of
Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house
of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye have profaned among the
heathen, whither ye went.
