Matthew 13:32

Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

a. NLT: It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants; it grows into a tree, and birds come and make nests in its branches.”

b. NIV:  Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”

c. YLT: which less, indeed, is than all the seeds, but when it may be grown, is greatest of the herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the heaven do come and rest in its branches.'

d. Amplified Bible:  Of all the seeds it is the smallest, but when it has grown it is the largest of the garden herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and find shelter in its branches.

e. Worrell Translation: which, indeed, is less than all the seeds; but, when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the heaven come and roost in its branches.

1. “Which indeed is the least of all seeds…”

f. seeds [4690 * sperma] [Strong: from 4687; something sown, i.e. seed (including the male "sperm"); by implication, offspring; specially, a remnant (figuratively, as if kept over for planting):--issue, seed.

2. “…but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree…”

3. “…so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.”

b. the birds [4071 * peteinon] [Strong:  neuter of a derivative of 4072; a flying animal, i.e. bird:--bird, fowl.]

c. of the air [3772 * ouranos] [Strong: perhaps from the same as 3735 (through the idea of elevation); the sky; by extension, heaven (as the abode of God); by implication, happiness, power, eternity; specially, the Gospel (Christianity):--air, heaven(-ly), sky.]

d. come [2064 * erchomai] [Strong: middle voice of a primary verb (used only in the present and imperfect tenses, the others being supplied by a kindred (middle voice) eleuthomai el-yoo'-thom-ahee, or (active) eltho el'-tho, which do not otherwise occur) to come or go (in a great variety of applications, literally and figuratively):--accompany, appear, bring, come, enter, fall out, go, grow, X light, X next, pass, resort, be set.]

i. there of [846 * autos] [Strong: from the particle au (perhaps akin to the base of 109 through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative 1438) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons:--her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which.]

1). The key to understanding the Parables in Matthew 13:1-52 is in the explanation of the first two. The key is to keep the interpretation in line with the first two. The mustard seed is the word of faith, the teaching of Christ, extremely small but containing great possibilities, (Matthew17:20). It is the least of all seeds, (Matthew 13:32). The tree is often used in Scripture as a symbol of earthly pride, (Daniel 4:10-12; 4:20-22; Ezekiel 31. The tree of Christianity includes many denominations and factions that teach truth but also damnable heresies which is some explanation for the birds.

2). The birds

a). In Genesis 15:11 the fowls of the air attempted to consume Abraham’s sacrifice.

b). In Matthew 24:28 and Revelation 19:17, 18 The birds feast on carcasses of the dead, (Matthew 24:28; Revelation 19:17, 18).

c). In Revelation 18:2 Babylon is a cage of unclean birds.

d). In the Luke’s parable of the sower, the fowls represented Satan, (Luke 8:2).

e). Satan is the prince of the power of the air, (Ephesians 2:2, 3).
