 Zechariah 11:16

For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces.

1. “For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land…”


a. 1). The following is the description of the foolish shepherd/Anti-Christ and will be contrasted with the Good Shepherd Christ Jesus.  


2. “...which shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one…”

f. [the] young one [Strong: 5289 na`ar nah'-ar from 5287 in its derivative sense of tossing about; a wanderer:--young one.]


1). Contrast the description of the Anti-Christ with the Christ/Messiah.


a). Matthew 9:36-38 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;

9:38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.


b). Matthew 12:18-20 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.

12:19 He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.

12:20 A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.


3. “...nor heal that that is broken…”

4. “...nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces.”
