Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;

1). Troy Edwards, He Only Permits: This is the truth that is being taught in Ezekiel 20. In verse 21 we learn that the Israelites refused to walk in the laws that God gave that were good and led to life. Therefore he allowed them to continue in the statutes of the heathen whose practices they adopted. After so much pleading, God eventually removes all restraints and allows people to have what they want. However this is permissive and not causative.
2). God’s law, God’s commandments are not bad. The only translations that give a correct translation are the New King James Version and the Classic Amplified, listed above.
a). Psalm 19:7-9 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
19:8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
19:9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
b). Romans 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
c). 1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
