1 Chronicles 15:5

Of the sons of Kohath; Uriel the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twenty:

a. NLT: From the clan of Kohath, 120, with Uriel as their leader.

1. “Of the sons of Kohath…”

a. Of the sons [Strong: 1121 * ben bane from 1129; a son (as a builder of the family name), in the widest sense (of literal and figurative relationship, including grandson, subject, nation, quality or condition, etc., (like 1, 251, etc.)):--+ afflicted, age, (Ahoh-) (Ammon-) (Hachmon-) (Lev-)ite, (anoint-)ed one, appointed to, (+) arrow, (Assyr-) (Babylon-) (Egypt-) (Grec-)ian, one born, bough, branch, breed, + (young) bullock, + (young) calf, X came up in, child, colt, X common, X corn, daughter, X of first, + firstborn, foal, + very fruitful, + postage, X in, + kid, + lamb, (+) man, meet, + mighty, + nephew, old, (+) people, + rebel, + robber, X servant born, X soldier, son, + spark, + steward, + stranger, X surely, them of, + tumultuous one, + valiant(-est), whelp, worthy, young (one), youth.]

b. of Kohath [Strong: 6955 * Qhath keh-hawth' from an unused root meaning to ally oneself; allied; Kehath, an Israelite:--Kohath.]

1). This was the particular family of the Levites who had the responsibility of carrying the furniture of the Tabernacle, including the Ark.

a). Numbers 3:27-31  And of Kohath was the family of the Amramites, and the family of the Izeharites, and the family of the Hebronites, and the family of the Uzzielites: these are the families of the Kohathites.
3:28 In the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were eight thousand and six hundred, keeping the charge of the sanctuary.
3:29 The families of the sons of Kohath shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle southward.
3:30 And the chief of the house of the father of the families of the Kohathites shall be Elizaphan the son of Uzziel.
3:31 And their charge shall be the ark, and the table, and the candlestick, and the altars, and the vessels of the sanctuary wherewith they minister, and the hanging, and all the service thereof.

2. “…Uriel the chief, and his brethren an hundred and twenty:”

a. Uriel [Strong: 222 * 'Uwriy'el oo-ree-ale' from 217 and 410; flame of God; Uriel, the name of two Israelites:--Uriel.]

b. the chief [Strong: 8269 * sar sar from 8323; a head person (of any rank or class):--captain (that had rule), chief (captain), general, governor, keeper, lord, ((-task- ))master, prince(-ipal), ruler, steward.]

c. and his brethren [Strong: 251 * 'ach awkh a primitive word; a brother (used in the widest sense of literal relationship and metaphorical affinity or resemblance (like 1)):--another, brother(-ly); kindred, like, other.]

d. an hundred [Strong: 3967 * me'ah may-aw' or metyah {may-yaw'}; properly, a primitive numeral; a hundred; also as a multiplicative and a fraction:--hundred((-fold), -th), + sixscore.]

e. and twenty [Strong: 6242 * `esriym es-reem' from 6235; twenty; also (ordinal) twentieth:--(six-)score, twenty(-ieth).]
