Joshua 3:14



Joshua 3:14

 

And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people;

 

a. NLT: So the people left their camp to cross the Jordan, and the priests who were carrying the Ark of the Covenant went ahead of them.

 

b. NIV: So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant went ahead of them.

 

c. YLT: And it cometh to pass, in the journeying of the people from their tents to pass over the Jordan, and of the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people,

 

d. Amplified Bible Classic: So when the people set out from their tents to pass over the Jordan, with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people,

 

e. Septuagint: And the people removed from their tents to cross over Jordan, and the priests bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord before the people.

1. And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan

c. removed [Strong: 5265 * naca` naw-sah' a primitive root; properly, to pull up, especially the tent-pins, i.e. start on a journey:--cause to blow, bring, get, (make to) go (away, forth, forward, onward, out), (take) journey, march, remove, set aside (forward), X still, be on his (go their) way.]

 

d. from their tents [Strong: 168 * 'ohel o'-hel from 166; a tent (as clearly conspicuous from a distance):--covering, (dwelling)(place), home, tabernacle, tent.]

2. “…and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people;”

 

a. and the priests [Strong: 3548 * kohen ko-hane' active participle of 3547; literally, one officiating, a priest; also (by courtesy) an acting priest (although a layman):--chief ruler, X own, priest, prince, principal officer.]
