1. “Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.”

a. Hide [Strong: 5641 çâthar, saw-thar'; a primitive root; to hide (by covering), literally or figuratively:—be absent, keep close, conceal, hide (self), (keep) secret, × surely.]

b. 1). This is the same phrase used when, because of their disobedience, God will hide his face from his people and permissively allow destructive things to happen to them because their disobedience. He simply will withdraw his Covenant protection from them.
