1). Why in the world would the Scripture call Jerusalem, spiritually Sodom and Egypt? Because this is before their rebirth as a nation in Christ. At this time, which is in the future, Israel is still in unbelief. They are here, just as they have been the last two thousand years still rejecting Christ. Another factor is Israel as a nation has embraced homosexual rights. 2). Israel is a secular nation and rightly called Sodom and Egypt. Though there are observant Jews and Christians living in Israel, Israel is a secular nation. It appears we are approaching the complete fulfillment of Jesus' words in Luke. The inhabitants of the area will celebrate homosexuality in the very same vicinity as they did in 20th century B.C.
