Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.

1. “Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers…”


a. [Be ye] ashamed [Strong: 954 buwsh boosh a primitive root; properly, to pale, i.e. by implication to be ashamed; also (by implication) to be disappointed or delayed:--(be, make, bring to, cause, put to, with, a-)shamed(-d), be (put to) confounded(-fusion), become dry, delay, be long.]


b. [O ye] husbandmen [Strong: 406 'ikkar ik-kawr' from an unused root meaning to dig; a farmer:--husbandman, ploughman.]


c. howl [Strong: 3213 yalal yaw-lal' a primitive root; to howl (with a wailing tone) or yell (with a boisterous one):--(make to) howl, be howling.]


d. [O ye] vinedressers [Strong: 3755 korem ko-rame' active participle of an imaginary denominative from 3754; a vinedresser:--vine dresser (as one or two words).]


2. “...for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.”

[is] perished [Strong: 6 'abad aw-bad' a primitive root; properly, to wander away, i.e. lose oneself; by implication to perish (causative, destroy):--break, destroy(- uction), + not escape, fail, lose, (cause to, make) perish, spend, X and surely, take, be undone, X utterly, be void of, have no way to flee.]
