Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with him.

1). The Scripture describes these individuals as “vain”. This same word is translated “empty” and is used in other verses.What a sad description. 

a). Genesis 37:24 And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, H7386 there was no water in it.

b). Genesis 41:27 And the seven thin and ill favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty H7386 ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine.

c). Judges 7:16 And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man's hand, with empty H7386 pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers.
