He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

1. He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

a. [He] telleth [Strong: 4487 mânâh, maw-naw'; a primitive root; properly, to weigh out; by implication, to allot or constitute officially; also to enumerate or enroll:—appoint, count, number, prepare, set, tell.]

1). In this Psalm the writer clearly tells us that God named the stars. In Job 9:9, Job informs  us that God created two constellations and the chambers or constellations of the south.

a). Job 9:9 Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south."

2). The truth of the matter is that the folks of Job’s day knew the names of those constellations because they learned them from God. Later in the book of Job when God is reading Job the riot act, God mentions those same constellations.

a). Job 38:31  Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?

Job 38:32 Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?
