1. “And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,”

a.a. [And the] LORD [Strong: 3068 Yhovah yeh-ho-vaw' from 1961; (the) self-Existent or Eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God:--Jehovah, the Lord.]

b. spake [Strong: 1696 dabar daw-bar' a primitive root; perhaps properly, to arrange; but used figuratively (of words), to speak; rarely (in a destructive sense) to subdue:--answer, appoint, bid, command, commune, declare, destroy, give, name, promise, pronounce, rehearse, say, speak, be spokesman, subdue, talk, teach, tell, think, use (entreaties), utter, X well, X work.]

This content came from the Institute of Creation Research: Variations of the wording of the LORD speaking directly to Moses is found hundreds of times in the four books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. As Henry M. Morris, founder of the Institute of Creation Research writes, This is one of the ways that the Bible was conveyed to us by God. It is the same in the four gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John where we have Jesus the second Person of the Godhead speaking to us and written down. Other means were used also, as Peter writes in his second epistle that the word of God came not from the will of Man “...but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost (2 Peter 1:21). However it was conveyed to us we have the assurance that the Scriptures can be believed and we can base our eternity on them. “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16).
