For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;

1. “For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;”

a. For [Strong: 1063 gár, gar; a primary particle; properly, assigning a reason (used in argument, explanation or intensification; often with other particles):—and, as, because (that), but, even, for, indeed, no doubt, seeing, then, therefore, verily, what, why, yet.]

b. perhaps [Strong: 5029 tácha, takh'-ah; as if neuter plural of G5036 (adverbially); shortly, i.e. (figuratively) possibly:—peradventure(-haps).]

c. [he] therefore [Strong: 5124 toûto, too'-to; neuter singular nominative or accusative case of G3778; that thing:—here (-unto), it, partly, self(-same), so, that (intent), the same, there(-fore, -unto), this, thus, where(-fore).]

d. departed [Strong: 5563 chōrízō, kho-rid'-zo; from G5561; to place room between, i.e. part; reflexively, to go away:—depart, put asunder, separate.]

h. [thou shouldest] receive [Strong: 568 apéchō, ap-ekh'-o; from G575 and G2192; (actively) to have out, i.e. receive in full; (intransitively) to keep (oneself) away, i.e. be distant (literally or figuratively):—be, have, receive.]

i. him [Strong: 846 autós, ow-tos'; from the particle αὖ aû (perhaps akin to the base of G109 through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative G1438) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons:—her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which.]

j. forever [Strong: 166 aiṓnios, ahee-o'-nee-os; from G165; perpetual (also used of past time, or past and future as well):—eternal, for ever, everlasting, world (began).]
