Romans 4:14
For if they which are of the law be heirs,
faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:
a. NLT: If God’s promise is only
for those who obey the law, then faith is not necessary and the promise is
pointless.
b. NIV: For if those who depend on
the law are heirs, faith means nothing and the promise is worthless,
c. YLT: for if they who are of law are heirs,
the faith hath been made void, and the promise hath been made useless;
d. Amplified Bible Classic: If it
is the adherents of the Law who are to be the heirs, then faith is made futile and empty
of all meaning and the promise [of God] is made void (is annulled and has no
power).

those who are of the laware heirs, faith has been made void, and the promise
has been brought to nought.

sense of partitioning, i.e. (reflexively) getting by apportionment); a sharer
by lot, i.e. inheritor (literally or figuratively); by implication, a
possessor:—heir.]
f. faith [4102 * pistis] [Strong: from G3982;
persuasion, i.e. credence; moral conviction (of religious truth, or the
truthfulness of God or a religious teacher), especially reliance upon Christ
for salvation; abstractly, constancy in such profession; by extension, the
system of religious (Gospel) truth itself:—assurance, belief, believe, faith,
fidelity.]
