Jeremiah 50:40

As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein.

a. ASV:  As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbor cities thereof, saith Jehovah, so shall no man dwell there, neither shall any son of man sojourn therein.

b. YLT: As overthrown by God with Sodom, And with Gomorrah, and with its neighbours, An affirmation of Jehovah, none doth dwell there, Nor sojourn in her doth a son of man.

c. Classic Amplified: As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring cities, says the Lord, so no man shall dwell there; neither shall any son of man live there temporarily.

d. Septuagint In the Septuagint Jeremiah 50:1-46 is Jeremiah 27:1-46]:  As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities bordering upon them, saith the Lord: no man shall dwell there, and no son of man shall sojourn there. 

e. Stone Edition Torah/Prophets/ Writings: Like HASHEM’S overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and its neighbors, the word of HASHEM, where no man shall live and no human shall sojourn.

1. As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof

a. [As] God [Strong: 430 ʼĕlôhîym, el-o-heem'; plural of H433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative:—angels, × exceeding, God (gods) (-dess, -ly), × (very) great, judges, × mighty.]

b. overthrew [Strong: 4114 mahpêkâh, mah-pay-kaw'; from H2015; a destruction:—when...overthrew, overthrow(-n).]

c. Sodom [Strong: 5467 Çᵉdôm, sed-ome'; from an unused root meaning to scorch; burnt (i.e. volcanic or bituminous) district; Sedom, a place near the Dead Sea:—Sodom.]

d. [Strong: 853 'eth ayth apparent contracted from 226 in the demonstrative sense of entity; properly, self (but generally used to point out more definitely the object of a verb or preposition, even or namely):--(as such unrepresented in English).]

e. [and] Gomorrah [Strong: 8017 ʻĂmôrâh, am-o-raw'; from H6014; a (ruined) heap; Amorah, a place in Palestine:—Gomorrah.]

g. [and the] neighbor [cities thereof] [Strong: 7934 shâkên, shaw-kane'; from H7931; a resident; by extension, a fellow-citizen:—inhabitant, neighbour, nigh.]

1). There were four cities destroyed.

a). Deuteronomy 29:23 And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the Lord overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:

b). Jude 7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
