a. ASV: Babylon hath been a golden cup in Jehovah’s hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunk of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.

b. YLT: A golden cup is Babylon in the hand of Jehovah, Making drunk all the earth, Of its wine drunk have nations, Therefore boast themselves do nations.

c. Classic Amplified: Babylon was a golden cup in the Lord’s hand, making all the earth drunken. The nations drank of her wine; therefore the nations have gone mad.

d. Septuagint: Babylon has been a golden cup in the Lord's hand, causing all the earth to be drunken: the nations have drunk of her wine; therefore they were shaken.

e. Stone Edition Torah/Prophets/ Writings: A golden cup was babylonia in the hand of HASHEM, which intoxicated all the land; nations would drink from its wine, and the nations would thus become crazed.

1). The Masks of God: Occidental Mythology, Joseph Campbell. “In Babylonian astronomy and mathematics from the archaic period of which practically all the high mythologies of both east and west had originated.”

2). Revelation 17:5 And upon her forehead [was] a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

3). Back before I became a Christian (1975-1976), I was deeply involved in the UFO phenomenon. Over the course of about a year and a half hundreds and hundreds of dollars were spent in the quest to find more information. During the search I ventured into many peripheral areas that I had no idea were linked, satanism, witchcraft, all kinds of paranormal, spiritually dark subjects. I became extremely interested in finding an extraterrestrial explanation for all religion, so I began researching particular mythologies, hunting for a possible link to UFO’s. That seed was implanted by reading Erich von Daniken’s book, Chariots of the Gods, and at least two others by him.  I began looking at The Golden Bough by James George Frazer, and The Masks of God by Joseph Campbell. (I had three of the four volume set).
