Jeremiah 51:64

Jeremiah 51:64

And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah. 

a. ASV: And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise again because of the evil that I will bring upon her; and they shall be weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.

b. YLT: And said, Thus sink doth Babylon, and it doth not arise, because of the evil that I am bringing in against it, and they have been weary.' Hitherto are words of Jeremiah.

c. Classic Amplified: Then say, Thus will Babylon sink and not rise because of the evil that I will bring upon her; and [the Babylonians] will be weary (hopelessly exhausted). Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.

d. Septuagint [In the Septuagint jeremiah 51:1-64 is Jeremiah 28:1-64]: And shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and not rise, because of the evils which I bring upon it.

e. Stone Edition Torah/Prophets/ Writings: And say, “Thus shall babylonia sink and not rise, because of the evil that i am bringing against it; and they will grow exhausted.’” Until this point are the prophecies of Jeremiah.

1. “And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her…”

a. c. [shall] Babylon [Strong: 894 Bâbel, baw-bel'; from H1101; confusion; Babel (i.e. Babylon), including Babylonia and the Babylonian empire:—Babel, Babylon.]

d. sink [Strong: 8257 shâqaʻ, shaw-kah'; (abbreviated Amos 8:8); a primitive root; to subside; by implication, to be overflowed, cease; causatively, to abate, subdue:—make deep, let down, drown, quench, sink.]

e. 2. “...and they shall be weary. Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.”

e. [of] Jeremiah [Strong: 3414 Yirmᵉyâh, yir-meh-yaw'; or יִרְמְיָהוּ Yirmᵉyâhûw; from H7311 and H3050; Jah will rise; Jirmejah, the name of eight or nine Israelites:—Jeremiah.]

1). This prophecy shall not be fulfilled until immediately before the return of Christ. All through the centuries since Jeremiah’s day there has been a human presence in Babylon, up to the present day 2019. 

a). Revelation 18:21-24  And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
18:22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;
18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
18:24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.
