1 Timothy 3:6

Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

a. ASV: Not a novice, lest being puffed up he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
  
b. YLT: Not a new convert, lest having been puffed up he may fall to a judgment of the devil;
d. Amplified Bible Classic: He must not be a new convert, or he may [develop a beclouded and stupid state of mind] as the result of pride [be blinded by conceit, and] fall into the condemnation that the devil [once] did.
1. “Not a novice…”

a. Not [Strong: 3361 mḗ, may; a primary particle of qualified negation (whereas G3756 expresses an absolute denial); (adverb) not, (conjunction) lest; also (as an interrogative implying a negative answer (whereas G3756 expects an affirmative one)) whether:—any but (that), × forbear, + God forbid, + lack, lest, neither, never, no (X wise in), none, nor, (can-)not, nothing, that not, un(-taken), without. Often used in compounds in substantially the same relations.]
b. [a] novice [Strong: 3504 neóphytos, neh-of'-oo-tos; from G3501 and a derivative of G5453; newly planted, i.e. (figuratively) a young convert ("neophyte"):—novice.]
2. “...lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.”

a. lest [Strong: 3363 hína mḗ, hin'-ah may; i.e. G2443 and G3361; in order (or so) that not:—albeit not, lest, that, no(-t, (-thing)).]
b. [being] lifted up with pride [Strong:  typhóō, toof-o'-o; from a derivative of G5188; to envelop with smoke, i.e. (figuratively) to inflate with self-conceit:—high-minded, be lifted up with pride, be proud.]
