a. ASV: How sweet are thy words unto my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

b. YLT: How sweet to my palate hath been Thy saying, Above honey to my mouth.

c. Amplified Bible Classic: How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

d. Septuagint [Psalm 119:103 is Psalm 118:103 in the Septuagint]: How sweet are thine oracles to my throat! more so than honey to my mouth!

e. Stone Edition Torah/Prophets/Writings: How sweet to my palate is Your word, more than honey to my mouth.

1. “How sweet are thy words unto my taste!...”

a. How [Strong: 4100 mah maw or mah {mah}; or ma {maw}; or ma {mah}; also meh {meh}; a primitive particle; properly, interrogative what? (including how? why? when?); but also exclamation, what! (including how!), or indefinitely what (including whatever, and even relatively, that which); often used with prefixes in various adverbial or conjunctive senses:--how (long, oft, (- soever)), (no-)thing, what (end, good, purpose, thing), whereby(-fore, -in, -to, -with), (for) why.]

b. sweet [Strong: 4452 mâlats, maw-lats'; a primitive root; to be smooth, i.e. (figuratively) pleasant:—be sweet.]

c. [are thy] words [Strong: 565 ʼimrâh, im-raw'; or אֶמְרָה ʼemrâh; feminine of H561, and meaning the same:—commandment, speech, word.]

d. [unto my] taste [Strong: 2441 chêk, khake; probably from H2596 in the sense of tasting; properly, the palate or inside of the mouth; hence, the mouth itself (as the organ of speech, taste and kissing):—(roof of the) mouth, taste.]

1). As spirit beings we not only have the natural senses of taste, touch, smell, sight, and hearing, we have spiritual senses also. In Matthew 13:9 when Jesus said,  “Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.” He wasn’t referring to physical ears, he was referring to spiritual ears. The thirst referred to in Isaiah 55:1 is not physical thirst, its spiritual.

a). Psalm 42:1, 2 As the deer panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
42:2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

b). Psalm 143:6 I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land.

c). Hebrews 5:12-14 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

2). The water that Jesus spoke about to the woman at the well is the exactly what Isaiah is speaking about.

a). John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

2. “...yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!”

a. [yea, sweeter than] honey [Strong: 1706  dᵉbash, deb-ash'; from an unused root meaning to be gummy; honey (from its stickiness); by analogy, syrup:—honey(-comb).

b. [to my] mouth [Strong: 6310 peh, peh; from H6284; the mouth (as the means of blowing), whether literal or figurative (particularly speech); specifically edge, portion or side; adverbially (with preposition) according to:—accord(-ing as, -ing to), after, appointment, assent, collar, command(-ment), × eat, edge, end, entry, file, hole, × in, mind, mouth, part, portion, × (should) say(-ing), sentence, skirt, sound, speech, × spoken, talk, tenor, × to, two-edged, wish, word.]

1). David is referring to the spiritual sense of taste in his relationship with God.

a). Proverbs 24:13, 14 [Classic Amplified Bible]  My son, eat honey, because it is good, and the drippings of the honeycomb are sweet to your taste.
24:14 So shall you know skillful and godly Wisdom to be thus to your life; if you find it, then shall there be a future and a reward, and your hope and expectation shall not be cut off.
