Isaiah 50:7

For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

a. ASV:  For the Lord Jehovah will help me; therefore have I not been confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.

1. “For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded…”

i. [be] ashamed [Strong: 954 bûwsh, boosh; a primitive root; properly, to pale, i.e. by implication to be ashamed; also (by implication) to be disappointed or delayed:—(be, make, bring to, cause, put to, with, a-) shamed(-d), be (put to) confounded(-fusion), become dry, delay, be long.]

1). I remember Blaine Bowman ministered out of this text at Williamsburg Pentecostal Church about 40 years ago. His application was to Christ Jesus when He knew it was time for him to fulfill his ministry of dying for our sins.

a). Luke 9:51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,

(1) steadfastly [Strong: 4741 stērízō, stay-rid'-zo; from a presumed derivative of G2476 (like G4731); to set fast, i.e. (literally) to turn resolutely in a certain direction, or (figuratively) to confirm:—fix, (e-)stablish, stedfastly set, strengthen.]

2). When Jesus knew it was time for him to be the sacrifice for our sins, he determined to be faithful, as Isaiah says “I have set my face like a flint” . Let us do the same, set our faces like a flint to be obedient and fulfill His purpose in our lives!

15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
