Matthew 10:27

What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

a. NLT: What I tell you now in the darkness, shout abroad when daybreak comes. What I whisper in your ear, shout from the housetops for all to hear!

b. NIV: What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.

c. YLT: that which I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light, and that which you hear at the ear, proclaim on the house-tops.

d. Amplified Bible: What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered in the ear, proclaim upon the housetops.

e. Worrell Translation: What I am saying to you in the darkness, speak ye in the light; and what ye hear in the ear, preach on the housetops.

1. “What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light…”

a. what [3739 * hos] [Strong: including feminine he hay, and neuter ho ho probably a primary word (or perhaps a form of the article 3588); the relatively (sometimes demonstrative) pronoun, who, which, what, that:--one, (an-, the) other, some, that, what, which, who(-m, -se), etc.]

b. I tell [3004 * lego] [Strong: a primary verb; properly, to "lay" forth, i.e. (figuratively) relate (in words (usually of systematic or set discourse; whereas 2036 and 5346 generally refer to an individual expression or speech respectively; while 4483 is properly to break silence merely, and 2980 means an extended or random harangue)); by implication, to mean:--ask, bid, boast, call, describe, give out, name, put forth, say(-ing, on), shew, speak, tell, utter.]

c. you [5213 * humin] [Strong:  irregular dative case of 5210; to (with or by) you:--ye, you, your(-selves).]

f. that speak ye  [2036 * epo] [Strong: a primary verb (used only in the definite past tense, the others being borrowed from 2046, 4483, and 5346); to speak or say (by word or writing):--answer, bid, bring word, call, command, grant, say (on), speak, tell.]

h. light [5457 * phos] [Strong: from an obsolete phao (to shine or make manifest, especially by rays; compare 5316, 5346); luminousness (in the widest application, natural or artificial, abstract or concrete, literal or figurative):--fire, light.]

2. “…and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.”

g. upon [1909 * epi] [Strong:  a primary preposition; properly, meaning superimposition (of time, place, order, etc.), as a relation of distribution (with the genitive case), i.e. over, upon, etc.; of rest (with the dative case) at, on, etc.; of direction (with the accusative case) towards, upon, etc.:--about (the times), above, after, against, among, as long as (touching), at, beside, X have charge of, (be-, (where-))fore, in (a place, as much as, the time of, -to), (because) of, (up-)on (behalf of), over, (by, for) the space of, through(-out), (un-)to(-ward), with.
