Romans 8:14

Romans 8:14

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

a. NLT: For all who are led by the Spirit of God are childrenfn of God.

b. NIV: For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

c. YLT: for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God;

d. Amplified Bible: For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

e. Worrell Translation: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God.

1. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God…”

a. for [1063 * gar] [Strong: a primary particle; properly, assigning a reason (used in argument, explanation or intensification; often with other particles):--and, as, because (that), but, even, for, indeed, no doubt, seeing, then, therefore, verily, what, why, yet.]

b. as many as [3745 * hosos] [Strong: by reduplication from 3739; as (much, great, long, etc.) as:--all (that), as (long, many, much) (as), how great (many, much), (in-)asmuch as, so many as, that (ever), the more, those things, what (great, -soever), wheresoever, wherewithsoever, which, X while, who(-soever).]

c. are led [71 * ago] [Strong: a primary verb; properly, to lead; by implication, to bring, drive, (reflexively) go, (specially) pass (time), or (figuratively) induce:--be, bring (forth), carry, (let) go, keep, lead away, be open.]

d. by the Spirit [4151 * pneuma] [Strong: from 4154; a current of air, i.e. breath (blast) or a breeze; by analogy or figuratively, a spirit, i.e. (human) the rational soul, (by implication) vital principle, mental disposition, etc., or (superhuman) an angel, demon, or (divine) God, Christ's spirit, the Holy Spirit:--ghost, life, spirit(-ual, -ually), mind.]

e. of God [2316 * theos] [Strong: of uncertain affinity; a deity, especially (with 3588) the supreme Divinity; figuratively, a magistrate; by Hebraism, very:--X exceeding, God, god(-ly, -ward).]

1). In the previous verse Paul wrote about the responsibilities of believers because they are filled with the Spirit of God, putting to death the ungodly deeds of the flesh.

a). Romans 8:11-13  But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

2. “…they are the sons of God.”

a. they [3778 * houtos, including nominative masculine plural houtoi, nominative feminine singular haute, and nominative feminine plural hautai] [Strong: from the article 3588 and 846; the he (she or it), i.e. this or that (often with article repeated):--he (it was that), hereof, it, she, such as, the same, these, they, this (man, same, woman), which, who.]

b. are [1526 * esi] [Strong: 3d person plural present indicative of 1510; they are:--agree, are, be, dure, X is, were.]

c. the sons [5207 * huios] [Strong: apparently a primary word; a "son" (sometimes of animals), used very widely of immediate, remote or figuratively, kinship:--child, foal, son.]

d. of God [2316 * theos] [Strong: of uncertain affinity; a deity, especially (with 3588) the supreme Divinity; figuratively, a magistrate; by Hebraism, very:--X exceeding, God, god(-ly, -ward).]

1). We must remember that in the heat of resisting the desires of the flesh, no matter how uncomfortable it gets that we are being led by the Spirit of God and we are demonstrating to the world, the devil, ourselves and God that we are the sons of God.
