Matthew 12:37

For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

a. NLT: The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.”

b. NIV: For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

c. YLT: for from thy words thou shalt be declared righteous, and from thy words thou shalt be declared unrighteous.'

d. Amplified Bible Classic: For by your words you will be justified and acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned and sentenced.

e. Worrell Translation: for by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned.

1. “For by thy words thou shalt be justified…”

a. for [1063 * gar] [Strong: a primary particle; properly, assigning a reason (used in argument, explanation or intensification; often with other particles):--and, as, because (that), but, even, for, indeed, no doubt, seeing, then, therefore, verily, what, why, yet.]

e. thou shalt be justified [1344 * dikaioo] [Strong: from 1342; to render (i.e. show or regard as) just or innocent:--free, justify(-ier), be righteous.]

1). It is by our words that we are justified .

a). Romans 10:8-10 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

2). Our words are supposed to be words of faith saying the same thing that God’s word says.

a). 1 Timothy 6:12-14  Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
6:13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
6:14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

b). Titus 2:1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

c). Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

2. “…and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”
