Zephaniah 3:12
I will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor
people, and they shall trust in the name of the LORD.

the lowly and humble, for it is they who trust in the name of the LORD.

nation, people.]
1). This phrase is used in a
contrast to the haughtiness of former Israel. Israel is not longer a haughty
people but a poor in spirit and contrite people.
a). Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the
poor in spirit: for thiers is the kingdom of heaven.
b). Isaiah 66:2 For all those things hath
mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but
to this man will I look, even to him
that is poor and of a contrite spirit,
and trembleth at my word.

the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy;
I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of
a contrite and humble
spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
