Isaiah 4:5

And the Lord will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defence.

1. “And the Lord will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion…”

a. LORD [3068 * Yehovah] [Strong: from 1961; (the) self-Existent or Eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God:--Jehovah, the Lord.]

b. create [1254 * ‘bara] [Strong: a primitive root; (absolutely) to create; (qualified) to cut down (a wood), select, feed (as formative processes):-- choose, create (creator), cut down, dispatch, do, make (fat).]

c. dwelling [4349 * makown] [Strong: from 3559; properly, a fixture, i.e. a basis; generally a place, especially as an abode:--foundation, habitation, (dwelling-, settled) place.]

d. mount [2022 * har] [Strong:  a shortened form of 2042; a mountain or range of hills (sometimes used figuratively):--hill (country), mount(-ain), X promotion.]

e. Zion [6726 * Tsiyown] [Strong: the same (regularly) as 6725; Tsijon (as a permanent capital), a mountain of Jerusalem:--Zion.]

1). Every dwelling and every house will have the physical presence of the LORD.

 

2. “…and upon her assemblies…”

a. assemblies [4744 * miqra’] [Strong: ; something called out, i.e. a public meeting (the act, the persons, or the place); also a rehearsal:--assembly, calling, convocation, reading.]

3. “…a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night…”

a. cloud [6051 * ‘anan] [Strong: from 6049; a cloud (as covering the sky), i.e. the nimbus or thunder-cloud:--cloud(-y).]

b. smoke [6227 * ‘ashan] [Strong: from 6225; smoke, literally or figuratively (vapor, dust, anger):--smoke(-ing).]

c. day [3119 * yowmam] [Strong: from 3117; daily:--daily, (by, in the) day(-time).]

d. shinning [5051 * nogahh] [Strong: from 5050; brilliancy (literally or figuratively):--bright(-ness), light, (clear) shining.]

e. flaming [3852 *lehabab] [Strong:  feminine of 3851, and meaning the same:--flame(-ming), head (of a spear).]

Each dwelling will have a pillar of cloud by day and a flaming fire by night just as it was during the 40 years in the desert.

13:21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

13:22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

4. “…for upon all the glory shall be a defence.”

a. glory [3519 * kabowd] [Strong: from 3513; properly, weight, but only figuratively in a good sense, splendor or copiousness:--glorious(-ly), glory, honour(-able).]

b. defense [2646 * chuppah][Strong: a canopy:--chamber, closet, defence.][Gesenius: a covering, a nuptial bed.][D. Costello: During a Jewish wedding the couple stand under a Huppah, a wedding canopy.]

c. Perhaps now we can see the significance of these passages, not just in New Covenant understanding.

1). Isaiah 62:3-5 Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.

62:4 Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the Lord delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.

62:5 For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.

2). Mount Zion Jerusalem will be covered by a protective wedding huppah by God.
