Luke 10:30
And
Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and
fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and
departed, leaving him half dead.

“And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho…”
a. If one looks a map
of Israel one can see clearly that Jericho is about 25 miles north east of Jerusalem.
So was Jesus wrong to say this guy went “down” to Jericho? Not really because
Jerusalem is 2,625 feet above sea level, while Jericho is 856 feet below sea
level, a total of 3,481 feet height difference between Jerusalem and Jericho.
So when Jesus said the guy went down to Jericho from Jerusalem he was literally
going down.
