Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
a. NLT: For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.

1. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ…”

1). God is not ashamed of us.
a). Hebrews 11:16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
2). We are warned not to be ashamed of Him.
a). Mark 8:38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
b). 2 Timothy 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
2. “…for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth;”

1). Passages that teach that salvation is not just going to heaven but matches the definitions given by the above scholars, Strong, Thayer and Scofield and others.
a). Hebrews 2:3, 4 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
2:4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
b). 1 Peter 1:9-12 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
1:10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
1:11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
1:12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
c). The grace that was prophesied by the prophets and the glory that should follw the sufferings of Christ is the gospel of the New Covenant. Included in that salvation is the signs and wonders that God gave testimony that what the apostles were preaching was true.
(1) Acts 14:3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
g. to everyone [Strong: 3956 * pas, pas; including all the forms of declension; apparently a primary word; all, any, every, the whole:--all (manner of, means), alway(-s), any (one), X daily, + ever, every (one, way), as many as, + no(-thing), X thoroughly, whatsoever, whole, whosoever.]
h. that believeth [Strong: 4100 pisteuo, pist-yoo’- o; from 4102; to have faith (in, upon, or with respect to, a person or thing), i.e. credit; by implication, to entrust (especially one's spiritual well-being to Christ):--believe(-r), commit (to trust), put in trust with.]
1). The Gospel of Christ is the power of God and we can believe it for our deliverance, our safety, our preservation, our healing and our soundness. Believing the gospel, all the promises that deal with the situations of life, whatever they are, brings the power of Almighty God to bear on any situation.
3. “…to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
a. to the Jew [Strong: 2453 Ioudaios, ee-oo-dah’-yos; from 2448 (in the sense of 2455 as a country); Judaean, i.e. belonging to Jehudah:--Jew(-ess), of Judaea.]
b. first [Strong: 4412 proton, pro’-ton; neuter of 4413 as adverb (with or without 3588); firstly (in time, place, order, or importance):--before, at the beginning, chiefly (at, at the) first (of all).]
c. and [Strong: 5037 te, the; a primary particle (enclitic) of connection or addition; both or also (properly, as correlation of 2532):--also, and, both, even, then, whether. Often used in composition, usually as the latter participle.]
d. also [Strong: 2532 * kai, kahee; apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]
e. to the Greek [Strong: 1672 Hellon, hel’-lane; from 1671; a Hellen (Grecian) or inhabitant of Hellas; by extension a Greek-speaking person, especially a non-Jew:-- Gentile, Greek.]
1). Paul always went first to the Jew and then to the Gentile, in that order. In Acts 13:5 they preached the word in Jewish synagogues, and in Acts 13:14 Paul went first into the synagogue at Antioch in Pisidia. When the Jews for the most part rejected the gospel in that city, Paul and Barnabas’s reaction was then went to the Gentiles’
a). Acts 13:45-49 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.
13:46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.
13:47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.
13:48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
13:49 And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.
2). Yet in the very next town Paul went first into the synagogue.
a). Acts 14:1 And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.
