1 Timothy 4:6
If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
a. NLT: If you explain these things to the brothers and sisters, Timothy, you will be a worthy servant of Christ Jesus, one who is nourished by the message of faith and the good teaching you have followed.
b. NIV: If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed.
c. YLT: These things placing before the brethren, thou shalt be a good ministrant of Jesus Christ, being nourished by the words of the faith, and of the good teaching, which thou didst follow after,
d. Amplified Bible Classic: If you lay all these instructions before the brethren, you will be a worthy steward and a good minister of Christ Jesus, ever nourishing your own self on the truths of the faith and of the good [Christian] instruction which you have closely followed.
e. Worrell Translation: Suggesting these things to the brethren, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith and of the good taching which you have strictly followed.
f. Wuest Translation: Constantly reminding the brethren of these things, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, continually nourishing yourself by means of the words of the Faith and of the good teaching which you have closely followed.
1. “If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things…”
a. If thou put…in remembrance [Strong: 5294 hupotithemi hoop-ot-ith'-ay-mee from 5259 and 5087; to place underneath, i.e. (figuratively) to hazard, (reflexively) to suggest:--lay down, put in remembrance.]
b. the brethren [Strong: 80 adephos ad-el-fos' from 1 (as a connective particle) and delphus (the womb); a brother (literally or figuratively) near or remote (much like 1):--brother.]
c. of these things [Strong: 5023 tauta tow'-tah nominative or accusative case neuter plural of 3778; these things:--+ afterward, follow, + hereafter, X him, the same, so, such, that, then, these, they, this, those, thus.]
1). We need to be constantly reminded of the truth of the Scriptures.
a). 2 Peter 3:1, 2 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
3:2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
2. “…thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ…”
a. thou shalt be [Strong: 2071 esomai es'-om-ahee future of 1510; will be:--shall (should) be (have), (shall) come (to pass), X may have, X fall, what would follow, X live long, X sojourn.]
b. a good [Strong: 2570 kalos kal-os' of uncertain affinity; properly, beautiful, but chiefly (figuratively) good (literally or morally), i.e. valuable or virtuous (for appearance or use, and thus distinguished from 18, which is properly intrinsic):--X better, fair, good(-ly), honest, meet, well, worthy.]
c. minister [Strong: 1249 diakonos dee-ak'-on-os probably from an obsolete diako (to run on errands; compare 1377); an attendant, i.e. (genitive case) a waiter (at table or in other menial duties); specially, a Christian teacher and pastor (technically, a deacon or deaconess):--deacon, minister, servant.]
d. of Jesus [Strong: 2424 Iesous ee-ay-sooce' of Hebrew origin (3091); Jesus (i.e. Jehoshua), the name of our Lord and two (three) other Israelites:--Jesus.]
e. Christ [Strong: 5547 Christos khris-tos' from 5548; anointed, i.e. the Messiah, an epithet of Jesus:--Christ.]
3. “…nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.”
a. nourished up [Strong: 1789 entrepho en-tref'-o from 1722 and 5142; (figuratively) to educate:--nourish up in.]
b. in the [Strong: 3588 ho ho, including the feminine he hay, and the neuter to to in all their inflections; the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.]

i. thou hast attained [Strong: 3877 parakoloutheo par-ak-ol-oo-theh'-o from 3844 and 190; to follow near, i.e. (figuratively) attend (as a result), trace out, conform to:--attain, follow, fully know, have understanding.]
1). Man is a three part being, spirit, soul, and body. Just as man needs to be physically fed in order to grow physically, he needs to be fed spiritually in order to grow spiritually.
a). Deuteronomy 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
b). Job 23:12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
2). Obedience to the word of God is how we eat spiritually.
a). Isaiah 55:1, 2 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, but, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
55:2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
b). John 4:31-34 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
4:32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
4:33 Therefore said his disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him aught to eat?
4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
3). If we walk in disobedience and refuse to be nourished spiritually in words of faith and doctrine, our spiritual senses will become deadened, i.e., our heart will become hardened through that disobedience.
a). Hebrews 5:10-14 Called of God a high priest after the order of Melchizedik.
5:11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.
5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
4). The prophet Amos foretold a time when a famine would come, but it was no ordinary famine. It was a famine of hearing the word of God.
a). Amos 8:11, 12 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
8:12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.
