2 Peter 2:7

And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

a. delivered (4506 * rhusomai) To draw, drag along the ground, to draw or snatch from danger, rescue, deliver.

b. just (1342 * dikaios) Right, just, expected by the one who sets the rules and regulations where by men must live, whether that be society or God. In the N.T., those that are called righteous are those who have conditioned their lives by the standard which is not theirs but God’s.

c. vexed (2669 * kataponeo)Pain, toil, to wear out or down by labor…to be vexed, weary, oppressed, afflicted.

d. filthy (766 * aselgeia) licentious, brutal, license, sexual excess, absence of restraint, insatiable desire for pleasure…perversion in general.

e. wicked (113 * athesmos; a-without; thesmos-a law) Lawless, not in conformity to acceptable custom. The homosexuals of Sodom and Gommorah are called athesmoi, KJV “wicked”.

2 Peter 2:8

(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds:)

a. righteous (1342 * dikaios) See “just” above.

b. dwelling among (1460 * egkatoikeo) To dwell permanently in or among.

c. vexed (928 * basanizo) To torture, afflict with pain, vex, harass. (2 Peter 2:8, used metaphorically, to examine, scrutinize, either by words or physical torment.

d. unlawful (459 * anomos; a-without; nomos-law) Lawless, not having, knowing or acknowledging the law… lawless in the sense of transgressing the law.

e. As Lot lived among them from day to day, these people did things in front of him not only to harass and to torture him but to see how he would react.
