Acts 2:29

Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

a. NLT: “Dear brothers, think about this! You can be sure that the patriarch David wasn’t referring to himself, for he died and was buried, and his tomb is still here among us.

b. NIV: “Fellow Israelites, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day.

c. YLT: 'Men, brethren! it is permitted to speak with freedom unto you concerning the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is among us unto this day;

d. Amplified Bible: Brethren, it is permitted me to tell you confidently and with freedom concerning the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

e. Worrell Translation: Brethren! It is permitted to speak to you freely concerning the patriarch David, that he both died, and was buried; and his tomb is among us till this day.

1. “Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David…”

a. men [435 * aner] [Strong: a primary word (compare 444); a man (properly as an individual male):--fellow, husband, man, sir.]

b. and brethren [80 * adephos] [Strong: from 1 (as a connective particle) and delphus (the womb); a brother (literally or figuratively) near or remote (much like 1):--brother.]

c. let…speak [2036 * epo] [Strong: a primary verb (used only in the definite past tense, the others being borrowed from 2046, 4483, and 5346); to speak or say (by word or writing):--answer, bid, bring word, call, command, grant, say (on), speak, tell.]

d. me [1832 * exesti] [Strong: third person singular present indicative of a compound of 1537 and 1510; so also exon ex-on' neuter present participle of the same (with or without some form of 1510 expressed); impersonally, it is right (through the figurative idea of being out in public):--be lawful, let, X may(-est).]

e. freely [3324 * mestos] [Strong: of uncertain derivation:--replete (literally or figuratively):--full.]

i. David [1138 * Dabid] [Strong: of Hebrew origin (1732); Dabid (i.e. David), the Israelite king:--David.]

2. “…that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.”

a. that [3754 * hoti] [Strong: neuter of 3748 as conjunction; demonstrative, that (sometimes redundant); causative, because:--as concerning that, as though, because (that), for (that), how (that), (in) that, though, why.]

b. he is…dead [5053 * teleutao] [Strong: from a presumed derivative of 5055; to finish life (by implication, of 979), i.e. expire (demise):--be dead, decease, die.]

c. both [2532 * kai] [Strong: apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]

h. sepulcher [3418 * mnema] [Strong: from 3415; a memorial, i.e. sepulchral monument (burial-place):--grave, sepulchre, tomb.]

1). This is the sepulchre that Nehemiah had repaired centuries earlier.

a). Nehemiah 3:16 After him repaired Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Beth-zur, unto the place over against the sepulchers of David, and to the pool that was made, and unto the house of the mighty.

2). Though David’s body was in the grave, his spirit and soul were in heaven. When Jesus ascended into heaven at the end of forty days he took all the men and women who were in Abraham’s bosom, or Paradise into heaven. They were saved, yet no one could go to heaven before the resurrection of Christ.

a).  Ephesians 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

m. this [5026 * taute] [Strong: dative case, accusative case and genitive case respectively of the feminine singular of 3778; (towards or of) this:--her, + hereof, it, that, + thereby, the (same), this (same).]

n. day [2250 * hemera] [Strong: feminine (with 5610 implied) of a derivative of hemai (to sit; akin to the base of 1476) meaning tame, i.e. gentle; day, i.e. (literally) the time space between dawn and dark, or the whole 24 hours (but several days were usually reckoned by the Jews as inclusive of the parts of both extremes); figuratively, a period (always defined more or less clearly by the context):--age, + alway, (mid-)day (by day, (-ly)), + for ever, judgment, (day) time, while, years.]
