Romans 1:15

So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.

a. NLT: So I am eager to come to you in Rome, too, to preach the Good News.

b. NIV: That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome.

c. YLT: so, as much as in me is, I am ready also to you who are in Rome to proclaim good news,

d. Amplified Bible Classic: So, for my part, I am willing and eagerly ready to preach the Gospel to you also who are in Rome.

e. Worrell Translation: so, as much as in me is, I am ready to proclaim the Gospel to you who are in Rome.

f. Wuest Translation: I am debtor in such a manner that to the extent of my ability I am eager to proclaim the good news also to you  who are in Rome.

1. “So, as much as in me is…”

a. So [Strong: 3779 houto, hoo’-to; or (before a vowel houtos] [Strong: adverb from 3778; in this way (referring to what precedes or follows):--after that, after (in) this manner, as, even (so), for all that, like(-wise), no more, on this fashion(-wise), so (in like manner), thus, what.]

b. as much as [Strong: 2596 kata, kat-ah’; a primary particle; (prepositionally) down (in place or time), in varied relations (according to the case (genitive, dative or accusative) with which it is joined):--about, according as (to), after, against, (when they were) X alone, among, and, X apart, (even, like) as (concerning, pertaining to touching), X aside, at, before, beyond, by, to the charge of, (charita-)bly, concerning, + covered, (dai-)ly, down, every, (+ far more) exceeding, X more excellent, for, from ... to, godly, in(-asmuch, divers, every, -to, respect of), ... by, after the manner of, + by any means, beyond (out of) measure, X mightily, more, X natural, of (up-)on (X part), out (of every), over against, (+ your) X own, + particularly, so, through(-oughout, -oughout every), thus, (un-)to(-gether, -ward), X uttermost, where(-by), with. c. in me is [Strong: 1691 eme, em-eh’; a prolonged form of 3165; me:--I, me, my(-self).]

1). As much debt is in me as much necessity is in me, as much grace is in me. All of these spiritual motivations were moving him to preach the gospel to the Romans also.

2. “…I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.”

a. I am ready [Strong: 4289 prothumos, proth’-oo-mos; from 4253 and 2372; forward in spirit, i.e. predisposed; neuter (as noun) alacrity:--ready, willing.]

1). This same Greek word is used in other applications in Scripture. In Matthew it is translated “willing”, while in Mark it is translated “ready”.

a). Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

b). Mark 14:38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

b. to preach the gospel [Strong: 2097 euaggelizo, yoo-ang-ghel-id’-zo; from 2095 and 32; to announce good news ("evangelize") especially the gospel:--declare, bring (declare, show) glad (good) tidings, preach (the gospel).]

c. to you [Strong: 5213 humin, hoo-min’; irregular dative case of 5210; to (with or by) you:--ye, you, your(-selves).]

d. that are at [Strong: 1722 en, en; a primary preposition denoting (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and (by implication) instrumentality (medially or constructively), i.e. a relation of rest (intermediate between 1519 and 1537); "in," at, (up-)on, by, etc.:--about, after, against, + almost, X altogether, among, X as, at, before, between, (here-)by (+ all means), for (... sake of), + give self wholly to, (here-)in(-to, -wardly), X mightily, (because) of, (up-)on, (open-)ly, X outwardly, one, X quickly, X shortly, (speedi-)ly, X that, X there(-in, -on), through(-out), (un-)to(-ward), under, when, where(-with), while, with(-in).
