1). The Apostle Paul under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost wrote “rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil.” These words line up with what Peter wrote concerning the proper role of government.
a). 1 Peter 2:13, 14 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
2:14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
2). The proper role of government is to protect the law abiding from the law breaker. In America for the past 55 years the homosexual movement has succeeded in reversing that role in many fronts of American culture. Notice the reversal in one state’s giving in to the homosexual movement assault on God’s intended purpose of government.
a). Montana High Court lifts ban on homosexual sex, Bob Anez, Associated Press, 7/2/1997, Cincinnati Enquirer. Helena, Montana—The Montana Supreme Court threw out a 24 year old ban on gay sex Wednesday, concluding government has no business in the sexual activity on consenting adult. Alathough no one has been prosecuted under the law, a 1993 lassuit by six homosexuals claimed that gays and lesbians live in fear of being charged with a crime and that takes an emotional and psychological toll. District Judge Jeffrey Sherlock of Helana agreed in February 1996, and the Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected all of the state’s arguments on appeal. Five other states, Arkansas, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri and Oklahoma still outlaw gay sex, said Linda Mangel, an attorney for the Northwest Women’s Law Center in Seattle. The Montana law violates the right to privacy guaranteed in the state’s constitution, the court said. While society may not approve of gay sex, “there are certain rights so fundamental that they will not be denied to a minority no matter how despised by society,” Justice James Nelson wrote for the court.
