Psalm 139:14

Psalm 139:14

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

a. NLT: Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.

b. NIV: I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

c. YLT: I confess Thee, because that with wonders I have been distinguished. Wonderful are Thy works, And my soul is knowing it well.

d. Amplified Bible: I will confess and praise You for You are fearful and wonderful and for the awful wonder of my birth! Wonderful are Your works, and that my inner self knows right well.

e. Septuagint Psalm 139:14 is listed under Psalm 138:14: I will give thee thanks; for thou art fearfully wondrous; wondrous are thy works; and my soul knows [it] well.

f. Stone Edition Torah/Prophets/Writings: I acknowledge Yoy, for I am awesomely, wondrously fashioned; wondrous are Your works, and my soul knows it well.

1. “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…”

a. I will praise [3034 * yadah] [Strong’s: to use(i.e., to hold out) the hand especially to revere or worship with extended hands.

b. I am fearfully [3372 * yare] [Strong’s: to fear; to revere; causative: to frighten.]

c. and wonderfully made [6395 * palah] [Strong’s: to distinguish, (lit. or fig.) put a difference, show marvelous, separate, set apart, make wonderfully, that causes wonder.]

2. “…marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

a. marvellous [6381 * pala’] [Strong’s: To separate, i.e., to distinguish, (lit. or fig.); by implication to be causative – make) great.]

b. are thy works [4639 * ma’aseh] [Strong: from 6213; an action (good or bad); generally, a transaction; abstractly, activity; by implication, a product (specifically, a poem) or (generally) property:--act, art, + bakemeat, business, deed, do(-ing), labor, thing made, ware of making, occupation, thing offered, operation, possession, X well, ((handy-, needle-, net-))work(ing, - manship), wrought.]

c. my soul [5315 * nephesh] [Strong: from 5314; properly, a breathing creature, i.e. animal of (abstractly) vitality; used very widely in a literal, accommodated or figurative sense (bodily or mental):--any, appetite, beast, body, breath, creature, X dead(-ly), desire, X (dis-)contented, X fish, ghost, + greedy, he, heart(-y), (hath, X jeopardy of) life (X in jeopardy), lust, man, me, mind, mortally, one, own, person, pleasure, (her-, him-, my-, thy-)self, them (your)-selves, + slay, soul, + tablet, they, thing, (X she) will, X would have it.]

d. knoweth [3045 * yada’] [Strong’s: to know, to ascertain by seeing; used in a great variety of senses.]

1). I personally believe that David knew because he was shown by God, and when David was shown how the baby and quite possibly himself was formed in the womb, it instilled in him a reverential fear of the LORD and also marvelous wonder.

e. well [3966 * m’od] [Strong: from the same as 181; properly, vehemence, i.e. (with or without preposition) vehemently; by implication, wholly, speedily, etc. (often with other words as an intensive or superlative; especially when repeated):--diligently, especially, exceeding(-ly), far, fast, good, great(-ly), X louder and louder, might(-ily, -y), (so) much, quickly, (so) sore, utterly, very (+ much, sore), well.]

1). Because of the advances of medical science, we as well as David know we are wondrously made and a marvelous work.

Psalm 139:13

b. my reins [3629 * kilyah] [Strong’s: kidneys (as the essential organ); fig. the mind (as the interior self: kidneys.)]

1). This Hebrew word is also used for the inward organs of sacrificial animals, so in keeping with the context of the baby being formed in the womb I have to go with the NLT “inner parts of my body” and the Amplified  “my inward parts”.

a). Exodus 29:13  And thou shalt take all the fat that covereth the inwards, and the caul that is above the liver, and the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, and burn them upon the altar.

b). Leviticus 8:16 And he took all the fat that was upon the inwards, and the caul above the liver, and the two kidneys, and their fat, and Moses burned it upon the altar.

Deuteronomy 26:2

Deuteronomy 26:2

That thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a basket, and thou shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name there.”

1.”That thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth,…”

a. This is a description of the offering of the first fruits. It is not the tithe as some suppose. In my notes on the confusion of the tithe and the firstfruits it is clearly established the tithe went to the Levites Numbers 18:21-24; and the firstfruits went to the priest: Numbers 18:8, 9, 12-14. Confirmation of this is given in Nehemiah 10:37.

2. “…and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name there.”

a. In the beginning pages of the Bible when men built altars and offered sacrifices and offerings unto the Lord, a specific place was not a commandment.

1). Genesis 8:20-22 “And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more foe man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”

2). Genesis 12:7, 8 “And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.

And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Beth-el, and pitched his tent, having Beth-el on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar kunto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.”

3). Genesis 22:1-14 was the exception.

b. But under the Mosaic Covenant, in order to stop the practice of offerings made to devils, one place for sacrifice was designated.

1). Leviticus 17:3-9 “What man soever there be of the house of Israel, that killeth an ox, or lamb, or goat, in the camp, or that killeth it out of the camp,

And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer an offering unto the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD; blood shall be imputed unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shll be cut off from among his people:

To the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they offer in the open field, even that they may bring them unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest, and offer them for peace offerings unto the LORD.

And the priest shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar of the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and burn the fat for a sweet savour unto the LORD.

And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations.

And thou shalt say unto them, Whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers which sojorn among you, that offereth a burnt offering or sacrifice,

And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it unto the LORD; even that man shall be cut off from among his people.”

c. Once Israel entered the Promised Land they also had the obligation to destroying all the places where the former nations worshipped their gods.

1). Deuteronomy 12:2-14 “Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which y shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, an upon the hills, and under every green tree:

And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.

Ye shall not do so unto the LORD your God.

But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his hame there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come:
And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks:

And there ye shall eat before the LORD your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the LORD thy God hath blessed thee.

Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.

For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God giveth you.

But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;

Then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the LORD:

And ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates; forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you.

Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest:

But in the place which the LORD shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.”

d. Concerning the place where the LORD will place His name, there is an interesting school of thought that says the name of God is embossed into the geography of Jerusalem. It says the Hebrew letter “shin” is below the temple mount. The letter starts down the valley below the Mount of Olives and loops up around Mount Zion/The City of David by the valley of Hinnom and continues down the Valley of Hinnom and comes up the left side of the Old city. Interesting!

Deuteronomy 26:1

Deuteronomy 26:1

And it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possesses it, and dwellest therein;

a. NLT: “When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you as a special possession and you have conquered it and settled there,

b. NIV: When you have entered the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance and have taken possession of it and settled in it,

c. YLT: 'And it hath been, when thou comest in unto the land which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee -- an inheritance, and thou hast possessed it, and dwelt in it,

d. Amplified Bible Classic: When you have come into the land which the Lord your God gives you as an inheritance and possess it and live in it,

e. Septuagint: And it shall be when thou shalt have entered into the land, which the Lord thy God gives thee to inherit it, and thou shalt have inherited it, and thou shalt have dwelt upon it,

f. Stone Edition Torah/Prophets/Writings: It will be when you enter the Land that HASHEM, your God, gives you as an inheritance, and you possess it, and dwell in it.

e. which [Strong: 834 'aher ash-er' a primitive relative pronoun (of every gender and number); who, which, what, that; also (as an adverb and a conjunction) when, where, how, because, in order that, etc.:--X after, X alike, as (soon as), because, X every, for, + forasmuch, + from whence, + how(-soever), X if, (so) that ((thing) which, wherein), X though, + until, + whatsoever, when, where (+ -as, -in, -of, -on, -soever, -with), which, whilst, + whither(- soever), who(-m, -soever, -se). h. giveth [thee] [Strong: 5414 nathan naw-than' a primitive root; to give, used with greatest latitude of application (put, make, etc.):--add, apply, appoint, ascribe, assign, X avenge, X be ((healed)), bestow, bring (forth, hither), cast, cause, charge, come, commit, consider, count, + cry, deliver (up), direct, distribute, do, X doubtless, X without fail, fasten, frame, X get, give (forth, over, up), grant, hang (up), X have, X indeed, lay (unto charge, up), (give) leave, lend, let (out), + lie, lift up, make, + O that, occupy, offer, ordain, pay, perform, place, pour, print, X pull , put (forth), recompense, render, requite, restore, send (out), set (forth), shew, shoot forth (up), + sing, + slander, strike, (sub-)mit, suffer, X surely, X take, thrust, trade, turn, utter, + weep, + willingly, + withdraw, + would (to) God, yield.]

1). This is referring to the land that was promised in the Abrahamic Covenant.

a). Genesis 15:18-21 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
15:19 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,
15:20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,
15:21 And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Gergashites, and the Jebusites.

2). Many theologians mistakenly interpret the Promised Land as a type and foreshadow of the believer going to heaven, but the Promised Land of the Jewish people was their inheritance, as many verses of Scripture testify, they were to possess it and dwell therein. In numerous passages the LORD clearly says that He has given the land to Israel.

a). Numbers 13:2 “Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel…”

3). It is clear that even though God had given the land to Israel by promise, Israel had to fight and conquer the kings over the inhabitants of the land to get it. Two under the leadership of Moses, and 31 under the leadership of Joshua.

a). Joshua 12:4-6 And the coast of Og king of Bashan, which was of the remnant of the giants, that dwelt at Ashtoroth and at Edrei,
12:5 And reigned in mount Hermon, and in Salcah, and in all Bashan, unto the border of the Geshurites and the Maachathites, and half Gilead, the border of Sihon king of Heshbon.
12:6 Them did Moses the servant of the LORD and the children of Israel smite: and Moses the servant of the LORD gave it for a possession unto the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh.

b). Joshua 12:7-24 And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel smote on this side Jordan on the west, from Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions;
12:8 In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites:
12:9 The king of Jericho, one; the king of Ai, which is beside Bethel, one;
12:10 The king of Jerusalem, one; the king of Hebron, one;
12:11 The king of Jarmuth, one; the king of Lachish, one;
12:12 The king of Eglon, one; the king of Gezer, one;
12:13 The king of Debir, one; the king of Geder, one;
12:14 The king of Hormah, one; the king of Arad, one;
12:15 The king of Libnah, one; the king of Abdullam, one;
12:16 The king of Makkedah, one; the king of Bethel, one;
12:17 The king of Tappuah, one; the king of Lasharon, one;
12:18 The king of Aphek, one; the kingof Lasharon,one;
12:19 The king of Madon, one; the king of Hazor, one;
12:20 The king of Shimronmeron, one; the king of Achshap, one;
12:21 The king of Taanach, one; the king of Megiddo, one;
12:22 The king of Kedesh, one; the king Jokneam of Carmel, one;
12:23 The king of Dor in the coast of Dor, one; the king of the nations of Gilgal, one;
12:24 The king of Tirzah, one: all the kings thirty and one.

4). Years later Joshua chastised Israel for being lazy about taking possession of the inheritance that God had given them.

a). Joshua 18:1 And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.
18:2 And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.
18:3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?

2. “…and possessest it, and dwellest therein;”

a. and possesses it [Strong: 3423 yarash yaw-rash' or yaresh {yaw-raysh'}; a primitive root; to occupy (by driving out previous tenants, and possessing in their place); by implication, to seize, to rob, to inherit; also to expel, to impoverish, to ruin:--cast out, consume, destroy, disinherit, dispossess, drive(-ing) out, enjoy, expel, X without fail, (give to, leave for) inherit(-ance, -or) + magistrate, be (make) poor, come to poverty, (give to, make to) possess, get (have) in (take) possession, seize upon, succeed, X utterly.]

b. and dwellest [therein] [Strong: 3427 yashab yaw-shab' a primitive root; properly, to sit down (specifically as judge. in ambush, in quiet); by implication, to dwell, to remain; causatively, to settle, to marry:--(make to) abide(-ing), continue, (cause to, make to) dwell(-ing), ease self, endure, establish, X fail, habitation, haunt, (make to) inhabit(-ant), make to keep (house), lurking, X marry(-ing), (bring again to) place, remain, return, seat, set(- tle), (down-)sit(-down, still, -ting down, -ting (place) -uate), take, tarry.]

1). Stone Edition Chumash, Torah/Prophets/Writings: The Torah now gives the details of a commandment that was first mentioned in Exodus 23:19. After the Land was conquered and allotted, farmers were to take the first ripened fruits to the Temple and present them to the Kohen, in a ritual that included a moving declaration to God for His eternal role as the Guide of Jewish history. The Jew’s gift of his first fruits, or Bikkurim, to the Kohen symbolizes that he dedicates everything he has to the service of God.

New Testament References of Same Sex Lust

New Testament References Of Same Sex Lust
Romans 1:21-27

“Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and to fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For which cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.”
This passage in Romans is the clearest New Testament passage that condemns male and female homosexuality. But these verses can not be looked at by themselves. They have to be studied in light of the verses around them and chronologically when it happened.
Many Bible scholars believe that the verses in Romans 1:18-32 are an account of the stages of world apostasy after the flood of Noah. The names of some them are, C. I. Scofield, Henry Morris, Finis Jennings Dake, and Lester Sumrall. Studying these verses in conjunction with Genesis 11 sheds much light about what occurred to humanity in the first 300 to 500 years after the flood. The verses reveal that mankind did not descend into the depths of depravity overnight, but that it took a period of time.
It is a physical law that babies do not grow into adults overnight, it takes years for the transformation. In the spirit it is similar, a baby Christian does not grow into spiritual maturity over night. On the flip side mankind does not descend into spiritual monsters overnight.
Sin does not have an eternal past, it had a beginning, it started somewhere; mankind, individually and as a whole does not degenerate overnight but gradually. I am not saying that man becomes spiritually dead or separated from God gradually; because of Adam’s sin we are all born with the law of sin and death in our nature, but when we reach the age of accountability we all die spiritually because we all sin, and that happens instantly. But just as there are levels of growth in Christ, there are levels of descent in sin. It is true that the reign of sin over man began in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve and the particular sin of eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, a forbidden tree, and because of that all mankind was lost. But our state or condition can become worse. Jesus said in Matthew 12:45, “…the last state of that man is worse than the first.” What the man did was allow a wicked spirit and “seven other spirits more wicked than himself” to enter in. In 2 Peter 2:20, Peter wrote of the condition individuals who turn their back on God as being “…the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.” Individual men and women, families, communities, whole nations and cultures do not become totally corrupt overnight, it is a gradual descent. A step by step abandoning of boundaries that otherwise would prohibit the corruption.
In Romans 1:21-27 it is revealed when the spirit of homosexuality entered the human realm. Comparing Genesis 18 & 19 with Genesis 11 and Romans 1 we can with confidence say it was within the first 450 years after the flood. Homosexuality is a lust driven by a spirit, it is not a sexual orientation, and it began plaguing humanity at a particular time in human history. Romans 1:21-25 show that homosexuality began when idolatry, which is also a spirit, was embraced by man and that occurred at a particular time in history.
Becoming vain in their thinking occurred after they rejected revealed truth; it is true here, and it is true in 2 Kings 17:15:
And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.
The people the Apostle Paul was referring to in Romans though claiming to be wise, these people were really fools. They were fools because they began worshipping images of man and animals. In Romans 1:24 & 26 we see the revelation of the, “wrath of God” in response to man when he, “changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image” (verse 23). In verse 24 God “gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves.” When they began worshipping idols they changed the truth of God into a lie, after that the next step in the degenerative process was male and female homosexuality. The phrase “gave…up” is a compound Greek word. (3860 * paradidomi; para-to the side of, over to; didomi-to give) It means “to deliver over or up to the power of someone. Spoken of persons or things delivered over to do or suffer something, unto the power or practice of someone or something.”[i] In Romans 1:24 the Lord gave these people over to the power of sexual and moral uncleanness and they began acting out the lusts in their heart and dishonored their bodies.
These vile affections, these disgraceful passions are described as changing “the natural use into that which is against nature”. To understand fully what these words mean they have to be compared with the phrase in verse 27, men “leaving the natural use of the woman”. In sexual intimacy, anatomically speaking, men complement women and women complement men. It is the created order. The desire to have sexual relations with a member of the same gender is a “vile affection” that is “against nature”, they are not sexual orientations. In Romans 1:27, the phrase, “men with men working that which is unseemly”, is a discrete way of saying, according to the Greek, “men engaging in actions with the sexual private parts of another man.”

1 Corinthians 6:9-11
“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, not idolaters, not adulterers, not effeminate, not abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of God.”

The Greek word for the phrase “abusers of themselves with mankind” is the compound word ‘arsenokoites’. It means a man who lies in bed with another male, a homosexual. It is the same Greek word used in the Septuagint, the Greek Old Testament in Leviticus 18:22: Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Verse 9 of 1 Corinthians 6 begins with a question. To put it simply, he asks, “Don’t you know that people who are not righteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?” Paul warns us in verse 9, “Be not deceived”. There are certain behaviors, including homosexuality, that if you practice, it is an indicator you are not a Christian and you are not going to heaven. By the same standard, I know of people who are fornicators. They live together, they are not married and they go to church every week and they think they are going to heaven, but according to God’s word they are not. When we look at the contemporary church world and the secular world, how they have embraced the mythology about sexual orientation we can see this warning is justified. There are some people within some Christian denominations that are deceived into believing that they could engage in this behavior and still be a Christian. In this passage of scriptures Paul refers to homosexual behavior, and includes them in the group with thieves, idolaters, drunkards, adulterers, revilers, extortioners, and covetous. Then in verse 11 he gives some of the most powerful words of hope he could give. He states that there were members in the Corinthian church who in the past engaged in these behaviors, but because of their conversion to Jesus Christ, they were not only washed and rendered clean and pure in a moral sense but also were declared righteous and set free by God. The Greek word for “justified” is dikaioo (1344), and according to Zodiates Word Study New Testament Dictionary means, “justify by judicial act, to set a man free from his guilt and represent him as righteous, it does not mean mere declaration of innocence, but liberation from sin which holds a man prisoner.”[ii] They were, because of their conversion, no longer adulterers, no longer homosexuals, no longer drunkards, they quit doing those things. This Biblical truth is completely opposite of what we hear from many today, concerning the so called sexual orientation of homosexuals.
For instance, on August 15, 1997, the Associated Press reported, in an article entitled, “Therapy for gays denounced”, that “homosexuality is not a mental disorder and doesn’t need treatment, the nation’s largest group of psychologists (American Psychological Association) has declared in an attempt to quell controversy over so-called reparative therapy.” The article goes on to say, “The newest resolution said lack of information, ignorance and prejudice puts some “gay, lesbian, bisexual and questioning individuals at risk” for seeking “conversion” or “reparative” therapy, which is aimed at reducing or eliminating homosexuality.”[iii] Newsday, another news organization reporting on the same meeting, in an article entitled, “Gay conversions rapped”, and dated 8/15/97, wrote that passage of the resolution, “would mean its membership of 150,000 psychologists would be breaching ethical guidelines should they tell potential clients that there is effective “reparative” or “conversion” therapy for homosexuality.”[iv]
Another example is found in a Permanent Injunction issued in 1994 by U.S. District Judge S. Arthur Spiegle against Cincinnati’s Issue Three, an effort by the voters in Cincinnati to remove “sexual orientation” from the city’s anti-discrimination law. “Furthermore, relevant and credible evidence revealed that sexual orientation is unamendable to techniques designed to change it, and that such techniques are considered unethical.”[v]
On June 10, 2004 World Net Daily reported that, “The National Mental Health Association has declared changing one’s sexual orientation from homosexual to heterosexual can be damaging to mental health,” www.worldnetdaily.com/news/printer-friendly.asp?ARTICLE_ID=38870.[vi]
If the National Mental Health Association, the APA, and Judge S. Arthur Spiegel were including the Gospel of Jesus Christ in these “techniques” then we have to go with what God’s word says in Romans 3:4 “…let God be true and every man a liar.” If there is no hope for the homosexual in the gospel then there is no hope for the drunkard, there is no hope for the adulterer, there is no hope for anyone. But thank God through Jesus Christ there is hope to not only receive forgiveness for all of our sin, no matter if its drug abuse, alcohol abuse, or sexual immorality of any kind, but also break entirely free from the bondage. The passage in Romans 3:4 echoes in principle what Isaiah 8:20 says, “…if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” Folks, if anyone says things that are directly contrary to what the Bible says, don’t believe them.
1 Timothy 1:8-11
But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

One of the messages the Apostle Paul is saying in these verses: Laws that forbid among other things, lying, murder, kidnapping, and homosexuality are not only “good” and “sound doctrine” they are also according “to the glorious gospel of the blessed God”. One reason that makes these verses vitally important to our time is the definitions of a couple words. The Greek word “whoremonger”, is pornos. It means a male prostitute, (Zodiates, 4205).[vii] The other phrase, “them that defile themselves with mankind”, is one Greek compound word. It is arsenokoites , and it means, “a man that lies in bed with another man”, (Zodiates, 733);[viii] these definitions are important to our present time in light of the warning the Apostle Paul writes in his second epistle to Timothy. In 2 Timothy 4:2-4 he writes:
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
The Apostle Paul warns that the time was coming when people would no longer believe sound doctrine, i.e. laws that forbid homosexuality, but they would gather around and listen to teachers who would accommodate their lusts. There are denominations out there that proclaim homosexuality to be simply one of the varied orientations that make up human sexuality. There are people who flock to these teachers to have their ears tickled. They turn away from the truth of the word of God concerning homosexuality and turn to listen to myths rather than God’s Word.
During the late 70’s, various news organizations began to report how the old mainline denominations’ were struggling over the issue of homosexuality. When I began to see these denominations compromise again and again over this issue, I would wonder, “What in the world is going on? Don’t they know what the Bible says?” One factor that I was not aware at the time was that a perverted theology had infiltrated the ranks of these denominations. It was a heresy that reinterpreted clear scriptural teaching about homosexuality into bizarre doctrine which taught that Christianity and homosexuality are compatible; this heresy is homosexual theology. Looking at the growth of the homosexual movement in the church world in the last 25 years we can see the heretical has now become the accepted.
Let me point out that “theology” is the wrong term to use with this particular heresy. Theology is the study of God, and the teaching that homosexuality and Christianity are compatible is not about God. It is about man’s attempt to incorporate vile affection, vile lusts into a pseudo-relationship with God. Perhaps a more accurate term would be “sodomology”. This heresy is not theology.
The preachers in these churches preaching this poison are apostate; they are fallen away if they were ever born again. I must say not every minister in these denominations is preaching this garbage; there are many godly men and women within these denominations trying to stand for truth, but for the most part, within the last 35 years sodomology has crept into these churches and has caused them to depart from the faith. It was these developments and studying the Scriptures that foretold of these events led me to believe as Christ’s return came closer homosexuality was only going to become a larger, more prominent issue in the church and the world. Just as Jesus said in Luke 17:28-30, “Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.”
A common thread in sodomology is the accusation that the writers of Scripture were ignorant of what we know today about sexual orientation, so what the Scriptures say about homosexuality does not apply because the authors didn’t have all the facts. In a study by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), called Human Sexuality, published in October of 1994, it is evident that sodomologists are at work within that denomination to spread corruption:
“Some of those who have called for change have claimed that what the Scriptures say about homosexual behavior should no longer be binding on the Church. They have pointed out that the Church has changed its understanding of the Scriptures before. They have claimed the Bible is conditioned by its time—it does not and can not address contemporary understandings of homosexuality and the authentic relationship of gay and lesbian persons who are Christians. Others calling for change have insisted that the Scripture passages that seem to condemn same-sex acts have not been correctly understood. They have argued that the Scripture passages address only homosexual behavior and did not know the concept of “sexual orientation”.[ix]
The Episcopal Church in their study, Continuing the Dialogue, echoes this lie by saying that it is “unlikely” the Apostle Paul knew about “what we today call” homosexual orientation. [x]
These deceitful statements completely contradict what the Bible says about itself. The warnings written by Paul almost 2000 years ago and cited in the beginning of this chapter are being fulfilled before our very eyes. Concerning the scope and range of authority of the Scriptures Paul wrote quite clear in 2 Timothy 3:16, 17.
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Scripture concerning homosexuality is God-breathed and is for doctrine about homosexuality, reproof concerning homosexuality, correction concerning homosexuality and instruction. If Paul was ignorant then either God inspired his ignorance or God was and is ignorant and not as smart as man.
To see how effective sodomology has had lets look at a quote from another main line denomination. The United Presbyterian Church in the United States of America (UPCUSA) is a denomination that has been wrestling with this issue for decades. After all those years of bickering, we find an amazing percentile acknowledged in the United Presbyterian Church in the United States of America (UPCUSA).
“A great theological divide exists in our denomination on the issue of homosexuality. Over the years, as various proposed amendments were sent to the presbyteries, the votes cast by individual presbyters have indicated that a substantial minority, 40 to 45 percent, affirm an interpretation of Scripture that differs from the guidance of the 1978 and 1979 General Assemblies.”
The 1978 General Assembly of the (UPCUSA) characterized “the practice of homosexuality as sin and instructs that unrepentant homosexual practice does not accord with the constitutional requirements for ordination.” www.pcusa.org/ga216/business/overtures/ovt0427.htm [xi]

Twenty six years after those General Assemblies, 40 to 45 percent of the leaders in the UPCUSA no longer believe that homosexuality is sin, nor believe that unrepentant homosexual practice is a reason not to ordain.
A couple more examples come from the Episcopal Church. The following is from is from the 1994 publication, Continuing The Dialogue, The first quote is from Chapter 5, The Discontinuities, lines 331 to 334:
“Among those who participated in the human sexuality dialogues in our own Church, 80% agreed or strongly agreed that homosexuality is a genuine orientation for some people and 66% said that gay men and lesbian women can be faithful Christians.”[xii]
Eighty per cent is an incredible number especially those who claim to be Christians but it shows clearly that the Apostle Paul was right when he wrote “the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine.” Another but more grievous example is found in the same chapter, from lines 549 and 566:

“Freud grew to believe that it was as difficult to convert a “fully developed homosexual into a heterosexual” as to do the reverse. Indeed there is no convincing evidence that homosexuals who are 5 and 6 on the Kinsey scale can be truly reoriented. Some are convinced, however, that with sufficient religious motivation, genuine shifts can and do take place. Some Christians involved in ministries such as Exodus and Regeneration have experienced such shifts in behavior and have given clear testimony to Church bodies on the subject…Clinical studies indicate, however, that such treatment may result in serious problems such as anxiety and depression due to the disruption of a lifelong process of sexual identity formation and from injury to the patient’s self-esteem.”[xiii]
Instead of saying what the Bible says, they quote Freud and Kinsey, and clinical studies. Saints, the Word of God is the final authority not Freud or clinical studies, or Kinsey. Not only is this “turning their ears away from the truth”, it is also an example of 2 Timothy 3:5, where Paul writes, “Having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof”. They are denying the gospels’ power to overcome and destroy homosexual lust and to transform the sinner into a saint.
The next “Church” statement is from “Human Sexuality Working Draft: A Possible Social Statement of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America with Accompanying Documents”. It is Paragraph 56, on page 21:
“Some of those who have called for change have claimed that what the Scriptures say about homosexual behavior should no longer be binding of the Church. They have pointed out that the Church has changed its understanding of the Scriptures before. They have claimed the Bible is conditioned by its time—it does not and cannot address contemporary understandings of homosexuality and the authentic relationship of gay and lesbian persons who are Christians. Others calling for change have insisted that the Scripture passages that seem to condemn same-sex acts have not been correctly understood. They have argued that the Scripture passages address only homosexual behavior and did not know the concept of “sexual orientation”.[xiv]
The above quotes from the Episcopal Church and Lutheran Church are clear examples of 2 Timothy 4:3 & 4. It is a flashing neon sign pointing to the apostasy of segments of professing Christianity. Another began flashing on July 5th 2005 when the leaders of the United Church of Christ, a liberal denomination of 1.3 million members voted to endorse homosexual marriage.[xv] There are others from other denominations that could also be included, but these are sufficient.
What the Scripture requires the Church to do is use the authority that Christ gave the Church to administer discipline. Under the Old Covenant there were certain crimes that were punishable by death. For instance, in Leviticus 20:11 we read, “…the man that lieth with his father’s wife…both of them shall surely be put to death.” It is the same in Deuteronomy 17:2-5 where the crime is idolatry. “If there be found among you…man or woman, that hath…gone and served other gods…Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman…and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.” Clearly under the Old Covenant these two offences were guilty of death, but under the New Covenant there is a different discipline given. These two sins are dealt with by the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 5. But instead of ordering the death penalty Paul says the individuals need to be excommunicated. In 1 Corinthians 5:2 the judgment to be administered is “taken away”, and in 1 Corinthians 5:13 it is “put away”. They are both the same Greek word, exairo, which means “to expel or excommunicate”.[xvi] The desired effect, according to 1 Corinthians 5:5 is, “To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.” Living in the world out from under the protection of God, and being the targets of the prayers of the saints is sufficient to bring a person to repentance and back into fellowship with God and his Church. Likewise under the law the death penalty was prescribed for individuals guilty of homosexuality.
Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with women kind: it is abomination.
Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Using the same example of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 5 for other sins that were prescribed the death penalty under the law but were under the New Covenant, we can with confidence in the mind of Christ excommunicate those in the local assembly who are unrepentant, but with the hope and prayer that it is only a step in the process of bringing them back into the body for full fellowship after the repentance is accomplished.
In light of this, those in the Church who advocate death for homosexuals are, I believe in error and need to repent.

d. God [Strong: 3069 Yhovih yeh-ho-vee' a variation of 3068 (used after 136, and pronounced by Jews as 430, in order to prevent the repetition of the same sound, since they elsewhere pronounce 3068 as 136):--God.]

2. “…Because the enemy hath said against you…”

a. Because [Strong: 3282 ya`an yah'-an from an unused root meaning to pay attention; properly, heed; by implication, purpose (sake or account); used adverbially to indicate the reason or cause:--because (that), forasmuch (+ as), seeing then, + that, + wheras, + why.]

1). In the previous chapter the enemy said the area would be theirs.

a). Ezekiel 35:10 Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the LORD was there:

b). Some Bible scholars say the two nations are Israel and Judah, while others say they are Judah and Samaria. The main point of this prophetic word is “the mountains of Israel”, during the times of the divided kingdom, it was Judah and Israel, and Israel’s capital was in Samaria.

2). This study will focus on “the mountains of Israel”. If you look at the area of the mountains of Israel and the area called the West Bank, they are almost entirely the same area.

a). The Moody Atlas of Bible Lands, Barry Beitzel, 1985 By Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, p33.”On the face of things, therefore, it seems unlikely that this stone mountain, ranging in width from 10-30 miles, should ever have been viewed as a political asset. Yet it is precisely this central spine, below the Jezreel valley, which is dubbed today, “the West Bank”, a phrase that conjures the notion of vital political interest.”

d. against you [Strong: 5921 `al al properly, the same as 5920 used as a preposition (in the singular or plural often with prefix, or as conjunction with a particle following); above, over, upon, or against (yet always in this last relation with a downward aspect) in a great variety of applications (as follow):--above, according to(-ly), after, (as) against, among, and, X as, at, because of, beside (the rest of), between, beyond the time, X both and, by (reason of), X had the charge of, concerning for, in (that), (forth, out) of, (from) (off), (up-)on, over, than, through(-out), to, touching, X with.]

1). In this verse, “the enemy” historically is Edom – Mount Seir—Esau: See Ezekiel 35:2. (Mount Seir-Esau: Genesis 36:8, 9. Edom occupied the land south and east of the Dead Sea. According to Ezekiel 35:5 Edom had a “perpetual hatred” of Israel. Edom would not allow Israel to pass through their land on their journey from Egypt to Canaan.

a). Numbers 20:14-21 And Moses sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of Edom, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us:

20:15 How our fathers went down into Egypt, and we have dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians vexed us, and our fathers:

20:16 And when we cried unto the Lord, he heard our voice, and sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border:

20:17 Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the king's high way, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy borders.

20:18 And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass by me, lest I come out against thee with the sword.

20:19 And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the high way: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will only, without doing anything else, go through on my feet.

20:20 And he said, Thou shalt not go through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.

20:21 Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border: wherefore Israel turned away from him.

2). Centuries later Edom joined with Moab and Ammon to war against Judah.

a). 2 Chronicles 20:10, 11 And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not;

20:10 Behold, I say, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit.

b). Edom, Moab, and Ammon historically occupied the land east and south of the Dead Sea, the land now is made up of some of the land of modern day Jordan.

3. “…Aha, even the ancient high places are ours in possession.”

a. Aha [Strong: 1889 heach heh-awkh' from 1887 and 253; aha!:--ah, aha, ha.]

b. even the ancient [Strong: 5769 `owlam o-lawm'or lolam {o-lawm'}; from 5956; properly, concealed, i.e. the vanishing point; generally, time out of mind (past or future), i.e. (practically) eternity; frequentatively, adverbial (especially with prepositional prefix) always:--alway(-s), ancient (time), any more, continuance, eternal, (for, (n-))ever(-lasting, -more, of old), lasting, long (time), (of) old (time), perpetual, at any time, (beginning of the) world (+ without end).

c. high places [Strong: 1116 bamah bam-maw' from an unused root (meaning to be high); an elevation:--height, high place, wave.]

d. [are ours] in possession [Strong: 4181 mowrashah mo-raw-shaw' feminine of 4180; a possession:--heritage, inheritance, possession.]

1). In all of their false claims to the land of Israel, these enemies have boasted and multiplied

their words against God.

 a). Ezekiel 35:11-13 Therefore, as I live, saith the LORD, I will  even do according to my anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them [the two nations Israel and Judah]; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.

35:12 And thou shalt know that I am the LORD, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.

35:13 Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.

b). Blasphemies “spoken against the mountains of Israel”, include declaring that the area is not Israel’s and that Israel is occupying the land illegally. The so called “Roadmap to Peace”, started by the United States in cooperation with Russia, the U.N. and the European Union is blasphemy. Until the 1967 Six Day War the nation of Jordan was in control of what is called today the West Bank. This same area is what our text calls “the mountains of Israel.”

(1) The Palestinian National Charter, Article 15:  The liberation of Palestine, from an Arab viewpoint, is a national (qawmi) duty and it attempts to repel the Zionist and imperialist aggression against the Arab homeland, and aims at the elimination of Zionism in Palestine. Absolute responsibility for this falls upon the Arab nation - peoples and governments - with the Arab people of Palestine in the vanguard. Accordingly, the Arab nation must mobilize all its military, human, moral, and spiritual capabilities to participate actively with the Palestinian people in the liberation of Palestine. It must, particularly in the phase of the armed Palestinian revolution, offer and furnish the Palestinian people with all possible help, and material and human support, and make available to them the means and opportunities that will enable them to continue to carry out their leading role in the armed revolution, until they liberate their homeland. http://avalon.law.yale.edu/20th_century/plocov.asp#art12

(2) The Palestinian Charter, Article 22: “Zionism is a political movement organically associated with international imperialism and antagonistic to all action for liberation and to progressive movements in the world. It is racist and fanatic in its nature, aggressive, expansionist, and colonial in its aims, and fascist in its methods. Israel is the instrument of the Zionist movement, and geographical base for world imperialism placed strategically in the midst of the Arab homeland to combat the hopes of the Arab nation for liberation, unity, and progress. Israel is a constant source of threat vis-à-vis peace in the Middle East and the whole world. Since the liberation of Palestine will destroy the Zionist and imperialist presence and will contribute to the establishment of peace in the Middle East, the Palestinian people look for the support of all the progressive and peaceful forces and urge them all, irrespective of their affiliations and beliefs, to offer the Palestinian people all aid and support in their just struggle for the liberation of their homeland. http://avalon.law.yale.edu/20th_century/plocov.asp#art12

(3) The following is a United Nations resolution regarding the land of Israel. It is slander.

(i) Resolution 242 (1967) of 22 November 1967 The Security Council,
Expressing its continuing concern with the grave situation in the Middle East,
