Corinthians 9:14
Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach
the gospel should live of the gospel.
a. NLT: In the same way, the Lord ordered
that those who preach the Good News should be supported by those who benefit
from it.
b. NIV: In the same way, the Lord has
commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the
gospel.
c. YLT: so also did the Lord direct to
those proclaiming the good news: of the good news to live.
d. Amplified Bible: [On the same
principle] the Lord directed that those who publish the good news (the Gospel)
should live (get their maintenance) by the Gospel.
e. Worrell Translation: Even so did the
Lord ordain, that those who proclaim the Gospel should live by the Gospel.

1). Here Paul
under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost summarizes his Scriptural position of
supporting the ministry. Just as the Old Covenant ministries were supported by
the Covenant people, the Lord Jesus ordained that New Covenant ministers should
be supported by New Covenant people.
a). Matthew 10:5-10 These
twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the
Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of
the house of Israel.
10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The
kingdom of heaven is at hand.
10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers,
raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
10:9 Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor
brass in your purses,
10:10 Nor scrip for your journey, neither
two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his
meat.
b). Luke 10:3-7 Go your ways: behold, I send you
forth as lambs among wolves.
10:4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor
shoes: and salute no man by the way.
10:5 And into whatsoever house ye enter,
first say, Peace be to this house.
10:6 And if the son of peace be there,
your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
10:7 And in the same house remain, eating
and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire.
Go not from house to house.
