1 Peter 1:1
Peter,
an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus,
Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

from Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to God’s chosen people who
are living as foreigners in the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia,
and Bithynia.

a. Peter [Strong:
4074 Petros pet'-ros apparently a primary word; a (piece of) rock
(larger than 3037); as a name, Petrus, an apostle:--Peter, rock.]

[Strong: 652 apostolos ap-os'-tol-os from 649; a delegate;
specially, an ambassador of the Gospel; officially a commissioner of Christ
("apostle") (with miraculous powers):--apostle, messenger, he that is
sent.]

1). Peter was one
of the disciples that the Lord chose to be an apostle.

also he named apostles;

“…to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and
Bithynia,”
a. to the
strangers [Strong: 3927 parepidemos par-ep-id'-ay-mos from 3844
and the base of 1927; an alien alongside, i.e. a resident foreigner:--pilgrim,
stranger.] [Zodhiates: a foreigner who has settled down, however briefly, next
to or among native people. [D.C. The same Greek word is translated “pilgrims”
in Hebrews 11:13.]
1). This term is
used in describing the Jews of the dispersion, who were scattered throughout
these geographical areas, but we the born again people of God are also referred
to as “pilgrim” and strangers and sojourners in this present world, so Peter is
writing to all of us.
b. scattered [throughout]

(specially and concretely) the (converted) Israelite resident in Gentile

shows, the 5 geographical areas mentioned
cover almost the entire Asia minor area except for the smaller4 most southern
areas.
