b. NIV: Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.

c. Young’s Literal Translation: Send forth Thy light and Thy truth, They -- they lead me, they bring me in, Unto Thy holy hill, and unto Thy tabernacles.

d. Amplified Bible:  O send out Your light and Your truth, let them lead me; let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your dwelling.

e. Septuagint: Send forth thy light and thy truth: they have led me, and brought me to thy holy mountain, and to thy tabernacles.

f. Stone Edition Torah/Writings/Prophets: Dispatch Your light and Your truth, they will guide me, they will bring me to Your holy mountain and to Your dwellings.

1. “O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me…”

a. send [7971 * shalach][Strong: a primitive root; to send away, for, or out (in a great variety of applications):--X any wise, appoint, bring (on the way), cast (away, out), conduct, X earnestly, forsake, give (up), grow long, lay, leave, let depart (down, go, loose), push away, put (away, forth, in, out), reach forth, send (away, forth, out), set, shoot (forth, out), sow, spread, stretch forth (out).]

b. light [216 * ‘owr][Strong: rom 215; illumination or (concrete) luminary (in every sense, including lightning, happiness, etc.):--bright, clear, + day, light (-ning), morning, sun.]

c. truth [571 * ‘emeth][Strong: contracted from 539; stability; (figuratively) certainty, truth, trustworthiness:--assured(-ly), establishment, faithful, right, sure, true (-ly, -th), verity.

d. lead [5148 * nachah][Strong: a primitive root; to guide; by implication, to transport (into exile, or as colonists):--bestow, bring, govern, guide, lead (forth), put, straiten.]

1). God’s light is His word and His truth.

a). Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

b). Psalm 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

c). Proverbs 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

2). God’s truth is also His word.

a). John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

b). 1 Kings 17:24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth.

c). Colossians 1:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

3). The light and truth of God’s word will lead us, it will direct us.

a). Psalm 119:9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

b). Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

4). We as Christians must esteem the Bible as God’s word and the final authority in our lives. If we do not believe the Scriptures are God’s words and the final authority in our lives, it will not transform us, it will not work within us.

a). 1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

5). Notice in the following verse what David is really saying.

a). Psalm 119:128 Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.

b). David is not saying that everything the Scripture says is true, please don’t misunderstand me. Yes, everything that Scripture says is true is true, and David believed it, but that is not what he is saying. David is saying he “esteems” everything the Scriptures say concerning all things to be right. It is a person in Covenant with God believing everything that God says to be right. God said it, it is settled in heaven and he believes it.

2. “…let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.”

a. Obedience to the light & truth of God’s word will lead us to the presence of God, to his tabernacles. In contrast to wicked things and wicked works that cleave to us and cause us to turn aside from Him.

1). Psalm 101:3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

a). cleave [1692 * dabaq][Strong: to cling, stick, stay close, cleave, keep close, stick to, stick with, follow closely, join to, overtake, catch.]

2). Wicked things and works of them who turn aside from God will cleave to you if you let them. As Christians we should not set wicked things before our eyes. Many of the images watched and listened to within popular culture are wicked works and things that will cleave to us and lead us away from the things of God, they will increase ungodliness in our lives.

a). 2 Timothy 2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

c. This Biblical truth is reoccurring theme in Scripture.

1). 1 Corinthians 15:33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.

2). 1 Corinthians 15:33 [Amplified Bible] Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character.

3). We must avoid the things in popular culture that will draw us away from God and toward ungodliness.
