Ephesians 2:5
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
a. NLT: That even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
b. NIV: Made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.
c. YLT: Even being dead in the trespasses, did make us to live together with the Christ, (by grace ye are having been saved,)
d. Amplified Bible Classic: Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; [He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new life with which He quickened Him, for] it is by grace (His favor and mercy which you did not deserve) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation).
e. Worrell Translation: Even when we were dead in our offenses, made us alive with Christ (by grace ye have been saved).
f. Wuest Translation: And we, being dead with respect to our trespasses, made us alive together with the Christ; by grace have you been saved completely in past time, with the present result that you are in a state of salvation which persists through present time.

1). Notice it says, “quickened us together with Christ”. From this phrase we can believe that not only was Christ Jesus quickened or made alive, but we were made alive with him. There is a passage in the Psalms that applies to Christ Jesus.
a). Psalm 71:20, 21 Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
71:21 Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.

1). The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ was substtutionary, when He was crucified, we were crucified, when he was quickened, we were quickened.

b). Galatians 2:20 when He was raised we were raised with Him.
