Proverbs 26:2

Proverbs 26:2

As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.

1. “As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying…”

a. [As the] bird [Strong: 6833 tsippowr tsip-pore' or tsippor {tsip-pore'}; from 6852; a little bird (as hopping):--bird, fowl, sparrow.]

b. by wandering [Strong: 5110 nuwd nood a primitive root; to nod, i.e. waver; figuratively, to wander, flee, disappear; also (from shaking the head in sympathy), to console, deplore, or (from tossing the head in scorn) taunt:--bemoan, flee, get, mourn, make to move, take pity, remove, shake, skip for joy, be sorry, vagabond, way, wandering.]

c. [as the] swallow [Strong: 1866 drowr der-ore' the same as 1865, applied to a bird; the swift, a kind of swallow:--swallow.]

d. by flying [Strong: 5774 `uwph oof a primitive root; to cover (with wings or obscurity); hence (as denominative from 5775) to fly; also (by implication of dimness) to faint (from the darkness of swooning):--brandish, be (wax) faint, flee away, fly (away), X set, shine forth, weary.]

2. “…so the curse causeless shall not come.”

a. [so the] curse] [Strong: 7045 qlalah kel-aw-law' from 7043; vilification:--(ac-)curse(-d, - ing).]

b. causeless [Strong: 2600 chinnam khin-nawm' from 2580; gratis, i.e. devoid of cost, reason or advantage:--without a cause (cost, wages), causeless, to cost nothing, free(-ly), innocent, for nothing (nought, in vain.]

c. [shall] not [Strong: 3808 lo' lo or lowi {lo}; or loh (Deut. 3:11) {lo}; a primitive particle; not (the simple or abs. negation); by implication, no; often used with other particles (as follows):--X before, + or else, ere, + except, ig(-norant), much, less, nay, neither, never, no((-ne), -r, (-thing)), (X as though...,(can-), for) not (out of), of nought, otherwise, out of, + surely, + as truly as, + of a truth, + verily, for want, + whether, without.]

d. come [Strong: bow' bo a primitive root; to go or come (in a wide variety of applications):--abide, apply, attain, X be, befall, + besiege, bring (forth, in, into, to pass), call, carry, X certainly, (cause, let, thing for) to come (against, in, out, upon, to pass), depart, X doubtless again, + eat, + employ, (cause to) enter (in, into, -tering, -trance, -try), be fallen, fetch, + follow, get, give, go (down, in, to war), grant, + have, X indeed, (in-)vade, lead, lift (up), mention, pull in, put, resort, run (down), send, set, X (well) stricken (in age), X surely, take (in), way.]

1). The curse refers to the curse of the law in Deuteronomy 28:15-68. If we do not give reason to land, the curse will not land on us.
