Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

1. “Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land…”
a. The mourning for Moses was over, and Israel was poised on the bank of the Jordan to enter its land, led by Joshua. His mission with a charge from God, affirming his leadership, assuring him that his authority would be unchallenged, and exhorting him to be strong and resolute.
