1). What must be said here is that this is an example of the mercy and grace of God. The plagues were not in Goshen. This warning was to the Egyptians, to Pharaoh and his people. It was the Lord telling Egypt, Pharaoh and his people that this is what I am going to do. Bring your animals and servants indoors, it is going to rain fire and hail and if your servants and animals are outside they will die.

a). Exodus 9:18, 19 Behold, to morrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even until now.

9:19 Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die.

2) Another thing that must be mentioned is that when the warning, the word from God is resisted is when the hardening occurs.

a). Exodus 9:20, 21 He that feared the word of the Lord among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses:

9:21 And he that regarded not the word of the Lord left his servants and his cattle in the field.

b). Hebrews 3:7-13  Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,

3:8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

3:9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

3:10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.

3:11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)

3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
