Leviticus 1:3
If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD.
a. ASV: If his oblation be a burnt-offering of the herd, he shall offer it a male without blemish: he shall offer it at the door of the tent of meeting, that he may be accepted before Jehovah.
b. YLT: 'If his offering is a burnt-offering out of the herd -- a male, a perfect one, he doth bring near, unto the opening of the tent of meeting he doth bring it near, at his pleasure, before Jehovah;
c. Classic Amplified Bible: If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he shall offer a male without blemish; he shall offer it at the door of the Tent of Meeting, that he may be accepted before the Lord.
d. Septuagint: If his gift be a whole-burnt-offering, he shall bring an unblemished male of the herd to the door of the tabernacle of witness, he shall bring it as acceptable before the Lord.
e. Stone Edition Chumash: If one’s offering is an elevation-offering from the cattle, he shall offer an unblemished male; he shall bring it to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, voluntarily, before HASHEM.
1. “If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish…”
a. h. without blemish [8549 * tamiym] [Strong: entire, (lit. or fig.) without blemish, complete, full, perfect without spot, undefiled. Also a noun, integrity, truth.]
1). Louis Goldberg, Leviticus: All offerings were to be without defects of any kind; they were to conform to God’s holy character…Each of these animals was a type of the One who was to come and fulfill the meaning of animal sacrifices. Perfection in the animals was a necessary aspect of the type that demonstrated the perfect character and perfect sacrifice of the antitype, Jesus Christ.
2). Primarily, the fulfillment of the type or the “very image” is speaking of Jesus; Jesus was without blemish. but it is also speaking of us.
a). 1 Peter 1:18, 19 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
3). It is also speaking about us, because we are to be without blemish in our lives before him.
a). Philippians 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; [blameless-without spot].
b). Ephesians 5:26, 27 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish
2. “…he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD.”

1). Jesus offered himself voluntarily.
a). John 10:17, 18 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
b). Philippians 2:7, 8 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
2). We are to do the same.
a). Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is5 your reasonable service.
