Numbers 16:2

And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:

a. NLT: They incited a rebellion against Moses, along with 250 other leaders of the community, all prominent members of the assembly.

1. “And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel…”

c. princes [Strong: 5387 nasiy' naw-see' or nasi8 {naw-see'}; from 5375; properly, an exalted one, i.e. a king or sheik; also a rising mist:--captain, chief, cloud, governor, prince, ruler, vapour.]

d. of the assembly [Strong: 5712 `edah ay-daw' feminine of 5707 in the original sense of fixture; a stated assemblage (specifically, a concourse, or generally, a family or crowd):--assembly, company, congregation, multitude, people, swarm.]

e. famous [Strong: 7148 qariy' kaw-ree' from 7121; called, i.e. select:--famous, renowned.]

1). Chumash: Rabbinic Commentary Numbers 16:2: The Torah describes Korahs\’s followers as prestigious people. They were leaders of the tribes (Midrash( or heads of courts (ibid.; Rashi); and they were men of renown who were called to important meetings and consultations. The presence of such a respected delegation naturally lent credence to Korah’s grievances.
