1). This exactly why Jesus preached the gospel to the poor, he wants to
lift them out of poverty. A relationship with God coupled with obedience to the
word of God will lift a person out of poverty, out of the pile of human waste
he or she lives on, and raise them up to sit with the leaders of the people.
a). Luke 4:16-19 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up:
and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and
stood up for to read.
4:17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And
when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to
preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to
preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to
set at liberty them that are bruised,
4:19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
b). Psalm 113:5-8 Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on

113:6 Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and
in the earth!
113:7 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out
of the dunghill;
113:8 That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his
people.
