Isaiah 9:15

Isaiah 14:15

Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

a. ASV: Yet thou shalt be brought down to Sheol, to the uttermost parts of the pit.

b. YLT: Only -- unto Sheol thou art brought down, Unto the sides of the pit.

c. Amplified Bible Classic: Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol (Hades), to the innermost recesses of the pit (the region of the dead).

d. Septuagint: But now thou shalt go down to hell, even to the foundations of the earth.

e. Stone Edition Torah/Prophets/Writings: But to the nether-world have you been lowered, to the bottom of the pit!

1. “Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.”

a. Yet [Strong: 389 'ak ak akin to 403; a particle of affirmation, surely; hence (by limitation) only:--also, in any wise, at least, but, certainly, even, howbeit, nevertheless, notwithstanding, only, save, surely, of a surety, truly, verily, + wherefore, yet (but).]

b. [thou shall be] brought down [Strong: 3381 yârad, yaw-rad'; a primitive root; to descend (literally, to go downwards; or conventionally to a lower region, as the shore, a boundary, the enemy, etc.; or figuratively, to fall); causatively, to bring down (in all the above applications):—×abundantly, bring down, carry down, cast down, (cause to) come(-ing) down, fall (down), get down, go(-ing) down(-ward), hang down, × indeed, let down, light (down), put down (off), (cause to, let) run down, sink, subdue, take down.]

c. [to] hell [Strong: 7585 shᵉʼôwl, sheh-ole'; or שְׁאֹל shᵉʼôl; from H7592; hades or the world of the dead (as if a subterranean retreat), including its accessories and inmates:—grave, hell, pit.]

d. [to the] sides [Strong: 3411 yᵉrêkâh, yer-ay-kaw'; feminine of H3409; properly, the flank; but used only figuratively, the rear or recess:—border, coast, part, quarter, side.]

e. [of the] pit [Strong: 953 bôwr, bore; from H952 (in the sense of H877); a pit hole (especially one used as a cistern or a prison):—cistern, dungeon, fountain, pit, well.]
