And they removed from Alush, and encamped at Rephidim, where was no water for the people to drink.

1. “And they removed from Alush, and encamped at Rephidim…”

a. 1). All of Exodus 17 is spent at Rephidim. Here was the first mention of the rock that Israel first received water from (Exodus 17:1-7). Here also is the first war with Amalek (Exodus 17:8-16). 

2. “...where was no water for the people to drink.”

a. where [Strong: 8033  sham shawm a primitive particle (rather from the relative pronoun, 834); there (transferring to time) then; often thither, or thence:--in it, + thence, there (-in, + of, + out), + thither, + whither.]

e. [to] drink [Strong: 8354 shâthâh, shaw-thaw'; a primitive root; to imbibe (literally or figuratively):—×assuredly, banquet, × certainly, drink(-er, -ing), drunk (× -ard), surely. 1). Here was the first mention of the rock that Israel received water from (Exodus 17:1-7). This Rock traveled with them through the desert. The Rock was Christ.
