Sexual orientation 2019

The last time I heard back in 2011, a majority of Americans, favored homosexual marriage. Most of my astonishment comes from witnessing it with my own eyes. Since 1976 I have watched as the homosexual juggernaut removed landmark after landmark, redefining sex, morality and marriage along the way. The final stop is a destination Jesus described this way, “…as it was in the days of Lot… thus shall it be…” (Luke 17:28-30).

Good Christian ministers and writers for the past two thousand years have been warning us about the dangers of violating God’s word regarding morality, sex and marriage. I don’t know the percentages are now in 2019 but in 2010 Pew research reported that 42 percent of Protestants favor homosexual marriage. How did that happen? Because for the last four and a half decades, apostate Christian ministers have been infiltrating and corrupting the church on these same issues. A fulfillment of a God breathed warning the Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 3:16-4:4.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

We are there folks; this is a prophetic moment, a sign of the last days that Jesus was speaking of.

When you figure in how many Christians not only don’t read or study the Bible, it’s easy to see how a prophetic warning by Jesus, particularly a sign pointing to the last days, is coming to pass right before our eyes, and very few see it. One of the deceptive foundational pillars in this immoral shift in our culture is a term called ‘sexual orientation’.

The first time I heard about the term ‘sexual orientation’ I was at a library in the early 1980’s doing research on homosexuality.  While at the library I remember reading that homosexuals were trying to say that they were born homosexual and it was their “sexual orientation”. They said that to try to be heterosexual was impossible because they were homosexual, they were wired up that way, it was their ‘sexual orientation’. I remember laughing out loud, and thinking, “Who in the world would believe this garbage?”  Well, I am no longer laughing, because the term “sexual orientation”, has been embraced by just about the whole world. Even Christians are parroting it. So what is “sexual orientation”?

The American Psychological Association gives this definition: “…an enduring emotional, romantic, sexual or affectional [sic] attraction to another person”. A legal definition is given in Lawrence v. Texas, the Supreme Court case that struck down all state laws and in effect all laws prohibiting homosexual behavior in the U.S.: “Sexual orientation refers to an enduring pattern or disposition to experience erotic, affectional, or romantic attractions primarily to men, to women, or to both sexes”.  A religious definition but certainly not Biblical definition is given by the Episcopal Church in a study from the 1990’s called, Continuing the Dialogue: A Pastoral Study Document of the House of Bishops to the Church as the Church Considers Issues of Human Sexuality. Their definition says, “…the homosexually oriented person is one who is consistently attracted affectionately, romantically, and erotically to persons of the same sex. Persistent patterns of homosexual attraction, enduring experience of intimacy, and continuing manifestations of devoted love are the most trustworthy signs of sexual orientation, not simply genital activity”. Basically, the myth of sexual orientation teaches you can be born heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, or transsexual and that it’s all a normal human existence and you should be free to live out your varied desires however you please.

Now I would say that all the people who came up with those definitions are in some ways very intelligent and very worldly wise, but what they are saying about homosexual desire and conduct is in direct opposition to the Bible, God’s word. It was Isaiah who said in Isaiah 8:20:

“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”

What the previously mentioned groups and individuals are saying reveals they have no light in them, because what they are saying is darkness. For the pretending Christians in this group, it is far more serious, because they are calling God a liar, they know what God’s word says and they choose to say differently.

Make no mistake about it, Biblically; man and woman were created heterosexual. This is established in Matthew 19:4-6. “And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” The sexual behaviors of men with men and women with women are not sexual orientations; they are, according to Romans 1:26, “vile affections”. And they “defile the flesh” according to Jude 8. The Apostle Paul described their feelings this way in Romans 1:27, these men “burned in their lust one toward another”. The Greek word for “burned” is ekkaio and according to Zodhiates Word Study Dictionary it means “to burn, light, set fire to, to cause to burn or flame up, to kindle”. In the Septuagint, the Greek Old Testament it is used of an actual fire in Exodus 22:6 and Judges 15:5. It is also used metaphorically for the anger of the LORD in Deuteronomy 29:20; Psalm 2:12 and Jeremiah 4:4. The Greek word for “lust” is orexis and according to Zodhiates, it means, “to desire…appetite, lust or concupiscence. It is always the reaching out after an object with the purpose of drawing it to oneself and appropriating it.” Paul goes on to say in Romans 1:27, “…men with men working that which is unseemly.” The Greek word for “working” according to Zodhiates is katergazomai and it means “to work, to bring about, to carry out a task until it’s finished”. The phrase, “that which is unseemly” is the Greek word aschemosune and it means “indecently, obscenity, nakedness”. In the Septuagint it is used in Exodus 20:26 and Leviticus 18:6, 7 to mean the sexual private parts of male and female. The complete phrase, “men with men working that which is unseemly” is a discreet way of saying, “men engaging in actions with the sexual private parts of another man.” When all the grammar and definitions of Romans 1:27 are put together this is the sum, “the enflamed desire and appetite and lust of a man to appropriate or seize upon and engage in actions with the private sexual parts of other men.” What a Supreme Court and pretending Christians call “homosexual orientation”, Paul calls a “vile affection”.

On two separate occasions the Apostle Paul warned us not to be deceived about homosexual behavior. In 1 Corinthians 6:9, 10, of which I will comment on more in a later chapter, Paul writes, “…Do not be deceived, neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God” (NASV). And again in Ephesians 5:5, 6 “For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man…has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no man deceive you with vain words; for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience” (KJV). The Greek word for “whoremonger” is ‘pornos’. It is #4205 in the Strong’s numbering system. I consulted 4 different Greek dictionaries and found the following: Strong’s: male prostitute; Thayer: male prostitute; Zodiates: male prostitute; Bullinger: sodomite. So there is no doubt that this is referring to homosexual behavior. According to Paul’s God breathed warning, all the arguments defending homosexuality are nothing but “vain words” we are not to be deceived by, including all the deception of sexual orientation. Concerning the phrase vain words, there is an interesting verse in Jonah 2:8 that I believe can be applied here. “They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy”. By clinging to the lying vanity of sexual orientation many are forsaking the mercy in Jesus Christ that could not only forgive them but also set them free. What is also dangerous is individuals who claim to be Christians are preaching the words of man over the word of God. They are false prophets.

Jeremiah 23:14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.

Ezekiel 13:22 Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life:

Those who are bound by same sex lust are being lied to by false teachers being told it’s their “sexual orientation”, that “they were born that way”. Instead of “promising him life” through Jesus Christ, they are lying to him and persuading him to “not return from his wicked way”. These false teachers have “strengthened the hands of the wicked.” The prophet Jeremiah goes on to say they are just like the people of Sodom and Gomorrah, which implies the same lies were told then also.

The question then, that begs to be asked is, how many sexual orientations are there? Well it depends who you ask. The fact is they keep adding letters to their acronym every so often. The last time I checked it was LBGTQ.

I can remember when the thought of normalizing homosexuality, homosexual marriage or homosexuals adopting children was seen as a remote possibility even by liberals. In 1977 the first homosexual rights battle in the U.S. took place down in Dade county Florida. A courageous conservative Christian woman by the name of Anita Bryant mobilized the voters to vote the homosexual rights ordinance down. Immediately afterward, the editorial pages of newspapers across the country were full of opinions, some of the newspapers themselves, but also of syndicated columnists, both conservative and liberal. One liberal columnist by the name of William Raspberry wrote a piece entitled, The Gay-Rights Holy War, and in it he wrote:

“But some followers of the Orange Juice lady see the ordinance as the opening wedge in a fight, not for ending discrimination against homosexuals, but for the elevation of homosexuality to a status equal to that conferred upon heterosexuality – to clear the way for homosexual marriages, adoptions by homosexual couples, the rewriting of textbooks to eliminate bias against homosexuality, and all the rest. I confess to being bothered by some of the possibilities. But most of them strike me as fairly remote, or at least without direct connection to laws banning overt discrimination on the basis of their sexual inclinations.”  

Another example that shows how far we’ve slid comes from an editorial from the Cincinnati Post dated 6/14/77. Here is an excerpt:

“Certainly there should be no quarrel, in this day and age, with the proposition that the state has no right to interfere with the voluntary sexual practices of consenting adults in the privacy of their own homes. Laws that try to police the bedroom are prudish and absurd. It is something else, however, however, to argue that homosexuals must be permitted to serve in the armed forces. Or that schools must hire teachers who are openly homosexual. Florida Governor Reubin Askew, a man of moderate and sometimes liberal views, is frank to say that, “I do not want a known homosexual teaching my child.” And we suspect that a good many parents feel much the same way. The question is not so much whether a child would be physically molested—that is no more likely with a “gay” teacher than with a straight one—but whether a child might be confused about his or her own sexuality by a teacher’s homosexual example.”  

All of those sentiments voiced in those examples were liberal sentiments. What was viewed as unacceptable and remote in 1977 even by liberals is constitutional law in 2019 and has been for a while. Mark my words folks, those of you who are defending homosexuality as normal, your children will be defending pedophilia and bestiality. What is just as bad as scholars who redefine homosexual behavior as normal, is those who redefine Biblical opposition to homosexuality as abnormal, a mental disorder is called homophobia.  One definition of homophobia is “the irrational fear of homosexuals”. Some of those same scholars would argue that this article is homophobic.

 In their book, After the Ball, authors Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen present a long term strategy to transform intolerant America into pro-homosexual America. One of their strategies is to desensitize the American public through a glut of talk.

“When we say talk about homosexuality we mean just that. In the early stages of the campaign the public should not be shocked and repelled by premature exposure to homosexual behavior”. Because they go on to write, they don’t want “…to draw attention to gay sex habits that provoke public revulsion.”

Homosexuals will acknowledge that I as a part of the public will be “shocked and repelled” by homosexual behavior, yet when that behavior provokes me to “public revulsion”, I’m called irrational. Sad to say I think their strategy worked.

Let me close by saying I know that I’ve been very hard and blunt in this article but do no want to end it being hard-line. I am no better than anybody else, I have my strengths and my weaknesses just like everybody else. God has been very merciful toward me for the last 42 years forgiving my sins and offences against him and my fellow man. The truth is there are Christians who struggle with same sex lust just as there are Christians who struggle with lust of the opposite sex, with covetousness, pornography, gluttony, alcohol, with whatever way the devil can tempt he will tempt. But in Christ we can have not only forgiveness for our sins but also complete freedom and deliverance from them by the grace of God. The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11[NIV]:

Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexual offenders, 6:10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 6:11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

If the slanderer, the greedy, the idolater, the swindlers and the thief can be washed, sanctified and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to the point their behavior is considered past tense, because they don’t behave that way anymore, then Bless God so can the adulterer, and the homosexual. Don’t believe the lie of sexual orientation that tells you, you can’t change who you are. In Christ all things are possible!
