 Colossians 4:9

With Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They shall make known unto you all things which are done here.

1. “With Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you…”

a. With [Strong: 4862. sun soon a primary preposition denoting union; with or together (but much closer than 3326 or 3844), i.e. by association, companionship, process, resemblance, possession, instrumentality, addition, etc.:--beside, with. In composition it has similar applications, including completeness.]

b. Onesimus [Strong: 3682. Onesimos on-ay'-sim-os from 3685; profitable; Onesimus, a Christian:--Onesimus.]

1). Unger’s bible Dictionary:  Onesimus (o-nes-i-mus; Gr. “useful, profitable”) The servant (or slave) in whose behalf Paul wrote the epistle to Philemon. He was a native, or certainly an inhabitant, of Colossae, since Paul in writing to the church there, speaks of him (Colossians 4:9) as “one of their number”. Fleeing from his master Philemon to Rome, he was there led to embrace the gospel through the instrumentality of the apostle (Philemon 10). After his conversion the most happy and friendly relationship sprang up between the teacher and the disciple; and so useful had he made himself to Paul that he desired to have Onesimus remain with him. This, however, he forbore in view of the relations of Onesimus and his master’s right to his services. Onesimus, accompanied by Tychicus, left Rome with not only this epistle but with that to the Colossians  (Colossians 4:9), A. D. 60.

e. and [Strong: 2532. kai kahee apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]

f. beloved [Strong: 27. agapetos ag-ap-ay-tos' from 25; beloved:--(dearly, well) beloved, dear.]

g. brother [Strong: 80. adephos ad-el-fos' from 1 (as a connective particle) and delphus (the womb); a brother (literally or figuratively) near or remote (much like 1):--brother.]

h. who [Strong: 3739. hos hos, including feminine he hay, and neuter ho ho probably a primary word (or perhaps a form of the article 3588); the relatively (sometimes demonstrative) pronoun, who, which, what, that:--one, (an-, the) other, some, that, what, which, who(-m, -se), etc.]

i. is [Strong: 2076. esti es-tee' third person singular present indicative of 1510; he (she or it) is; also (with neuter plural) they are:--are, be(-long), call, X can(-not), come, consisteth, X dure for a while, + follow, X have, (that) is (to say), make, meaneth, X must needs, + profit, + remaineth, + wrestle.]
