2 Corinthians 12:6
For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me.

1). Paul here was clearly saying he did not want anyone to think more highly of him than that he was. It leads perfectly into the next verse of him saying that to prevent himself from thinking more highly of himself a thorn of the flesh was given to him to assist in that prevention. The thorn was a messenger of Satan and it was not given to him by God, but it was as jesus preached in the parable of the Sower that after the word is given opposition from Satan comes after (Matthew 13:20, 21).
