And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

1. “And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.”

a. And [Strong: 2532 kaí, kahee; apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:—and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.]

b. many [Strong: 4183 polýs, pol-oos'; including the forms from the alternate πολλός pollós; (singular) much (in any respect) or (plural) many; neuter (singular) as adverbial, largely; neuter (plural) as adverb or noun often, mostly, largely:—abundant, + altogether, common, + far (passed, spent), (+ be of a) great (age, deal, -ly, while), long, many, much, oft(-en (-times)), plenteous, sore, straitly.]

1). In the first 10 verses of this chapter, Jesus said twice that MANY would be DECEIVED after he warned us to take heed not to be deceived. It looks like many are not listening to Jesus.

2). Some folks in the body of Christ use this warning to reject all prophets, (as well as all the gifts of the Spirit), because Jesus said many false prophets shall rise up in the last days, during the time of the beginning of sorrows, that is, right now. But he didn't say that all prophets were false. In fact, the apostle Paul wrote in the book of Ephesians that the five offices that Christ gave to the church, apostle, prophet, pastor teacher and evangelist, were to continue in operation until “ we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.” The last time I looked, we are not there yet, we still fall short. So all the 5 offices that Christ gave the church are to continue until we arrive at that point.

4:9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
