1).
This is a partial quote from Isaiah 49:6.
a). Isaiah 49:6 “And he said, It is a light thing that
thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore
the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles,
that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.”
b). As many prophetic utterances are portions of the
written word but are used by the Lord for a word in season for an individual or
congregation, it is possible that this portion from Isaiah was a prophetic
utterance given to Paul and Barnabas. The use of the quote from Isaiah coupled
with the word “commanded” nudges me to believe this.
c). commanded [1781 * entellomai] [Zodhiates: to
order, command.]
